DAFAD, I don't have a problem with Welsh as a language, but it is of NO practical use, so why should government spend peoples hard earned money on supporting it when there are so many other worthy causes.

A homeless person who speaks Welsh is exactly that, would they not have rather had government money spent on building them homes. Yes it actually is a choice, one or the other, there is no money tree to fund everything - it is always a matter of choices.

Welsh is one of the oldest spoken languages in the world today,
It is a spoken language which is on the up
But most importantly it gives people a sense of identity,culture and belonging
something that is missing in society over the border

The Welsh Government could - in an instant create many many millions of funding for - well for anything - AT NO COST - yes that's right - at no cost.

How?

By doing away with comprehensive dual language support or everything.

What is the point in a language which is not used anywhere! except in some parts of Wales?

If you want to a career in every profession you need to be able to speak English.

WHY? because all the 'knowledge' and research is recorded in English, NOT Welsh.

For instance: Medicine, all modern sciences, architecture, international media inc' film and TV, engineering, aviation (all), communication in all forms, finance, international sport - you name it?

The U.K. is 'lucky' enough to have the 'golden ticket' of every one being able to speak what is without doubt the most useful international language, and we spend our money and time on an anachronism that has very limited value. Think of all the government publications that have to be in Welsh, of all the Road signs etc etc.

They let us park in the rugby club (they did last year) loads of spaces there which I doubt even a level well attended AGM could fill.

Are all the spaces taken on the tractor and trailer.

The Beaumont may well be booked but worth a try. It varies a bit there, the themed rooms are really good the standard ones less so. They'll be many other places to stay in town though and it's not far.

They'll be plenty of parking near the rugby club on the day itself, for those unsure of directions and driving you can simply follow me.

Re - the Set and finding post drink grub: if you get accosted en route to the local restaurants, if you mention 'Skylite' you'll get a very good deal on crack.

Re the Beaumont, I've stayed there three times, twice in the 'Out of Africa' Room, which like the 'Out of Asia' room is something from another world and well worth the cost IMO.

I mention it only now 'cus I'm pretty sure they will have already been taken - but you never know.

Last time I was there (March?) they had a problem with internet access on my Mac Book Pro, although others there had no problem with windows machines.

So - if you anticipate morning RNS make sure you've got access.

p.s. If I'd been staying in Cheltenham I would have stayed there this time too.

The Set is on Cheltenham and the AGM is 8 miles away in Gloucester.

There will be a few I suspect helping reduce the ale available at a town centre bar/restaurant post Set visit.

Don't forget a short piece of straw to chew on relentlessy if you want to blend in.

Brooky, I booked into Beaumont House which looks to have good reviews and is just round the corner from the Set. It will then be a drive to the AGM the next morning over to Gloucester.

Wuzy, bisho4, for some reason I couldn’t initiate messaging to campbed despite clicking the “send message” option. Incidentally, nor could I buy at 160p today but think that was heavy rain interfering with my WiFi (rural) internet connection! Anyway, campbed kindly managed to message me so I have the necessary and since you’re family Wuzy (apparently) if he doesn’t do the same for you by 10am tomorrow, post here and I can pay for your buffet reimbursable on the day if you can afford it.

Wuzy, you don't have to be a premium user, just have an ADVFN account. If you can post on the message board (as you just did) then you can send a message. That's what I did.

Right-click on the username (Campbed), then the first option on the menu is Send Message.
