19/9/2018 07:17 | As far as vrs (and all shares) is concerned it how the general markets interpret the 'trade war' that matters; and their reaction appears positive ie good recovery on Dow Jones yesterday and stable overnight in Asia. Aimo. Best ellis | ![]() ellissj

19/9/2018 07:07 | Regarding the "trade war", the US tariffs are on China. China will apply the same on US goods. It is not a boycott of Chinese goods. That's all and there is no connection with individual countries on how they deal with China. Some people are really mixing everything. | ![]() fuji99

19/9/2018 07:02 | Agreed super, and that's why standards and certified products sorely needed to progress the emerging 2D industry; and hopefully coming soon. The volume of collabs announced re vrs since iso publication demonstrate industry know vrs have the real deal here. And those who seek to disrupt fair discourse, compare apples and pears describing them as the same eg layers is the main term used to differentiate graphene and graphite in the iso standards; hence nanene is described in terms of layers. Others choose to describe the actual physical measurement of their product ie in NM. Yet graphene is 0.4 nm thick ! So it's easy to understand 5 layer graphene product has less layers than a 5nm product ! Dyor. Best ellis 'Atomic force microscopy (AFM) is one of the most widely used techniques for characterizing the number of layers, since the original work of Novoselov et al. established that monolayer graphene is 0.4 nm thick [1].' | ![]() ellissj
19/9/2018 06:48 | Serratia The beauty of putting in the mileage on research is that I know you know your stuff and understand GNPs. EG I don't know if it's the topic but the FGR claims of the comprehensive data sent is a farce. Hell fire are they saying they had no idea VRS existed to make the data sheet claim. They are correct when they say very few out out data sheets, I know I've hunted high and low for them. The general rule is if you see large laterals it usually means the layers increase as the laterals go up and that is typical for all producers. EG some to get to under 10 layers end up with lateral sizes 300nm and less which is too small to bond with composites, it doesn't have enough surface area. Then if laterals get too large they fold and crumple in the process creating issues. As you know those details are in various science papers on graphene. Then there is the factor that a number of different types of graphene and graphite can be used in various products. Graphite will improve the thermal conductivity of anything with poor conductivity, the same re electrical. It may however weaken the product, it all depends if strength is important. Compression. I have yet to get to the bottom of that one few layer is best for UTS (tensile strength) which is the pulling apart. Compression may allow higher layer. I say that as I see some with more layers mentioned for compression but I've not looked into compression deeply enough but the ones that mention it tend to have graphite not graphene hence my suspicions re compression. But knowing their BS you can't trust a word they say. There are many pieces to the jigsaw re different types of graphene for various uses. Few layer happens to carry through all the gains of graphene into whatever it's used in. Multi and many layer can't as the bonds between the layers are weak, so the strength failure on those mult-layer joints not the graphene layer itself. If some made the effort then they would understand why there are many graphene frauds out there which is why the experts want the standards in sharpish. Graphene producers won't want]t it as over 90% of them suddenly drop off the graphene producer list. That would sting a bit especially for the public ones who talk BS to fund managers to get cash. A few fund managers have been stung badly already and are starting to realise it. | ![]() superg1
