04/7/2018 20:50 | Anyone that went the Cambridge investor day would know a lot more about Dyson. Many there had never heard of ADVFN and I'm not posting what I saw or heard on that front. As batteries has come up yes there was a battery testing room with a pile of button batteries which were said to be silicon graphene based. Then flick back to the Higraphink pdf. One of the applications he particularly believes in is the ink’s integration into batteries. Thanks to this, enhanced batteries with higher storage density and recyclability may be produced. This integration process is in fact already on track: Although Prof. Ferrari says it’s too soon to give out more information, he has already obtained further funding to bring HIGRAPHINK’s production technique to batteries. | ![]() superg1

04/7/2018 20:39 | Tweeted this last night in response to some idiot who was suggesting NR should/might need to do a fund raise. Thought it worth posting here. After the battle of Issus, Darius III of Persia offered Alexander the hand of his daughter in marriage, and all Asia Minor, to stop the war. Parmenion, one of Alexander’s generals, said “If I were Alexander, I would accept”. “So should I,” replied Alexander, “If I were Parmenion”. As history tells us, Alexander went on to conquer the *whole* Persian empire. The point of the story is, leave it to the guy with the vision to execute the strategy... | ![]() club sandwich

04/7/2018 20:27 | Grabster, RE: Dyson's EV site. No, no connection to VRS. The HQ is in Malmesbury which is a few miles up the road from the Hullavington site, and the HQ is nearer to Cheltenham. This is all very local for me as I could walk to the Hullavington site if I worked there !! | ![]() battery

04/7/2018 18:44 | James Dyson's electric car development recently stepped up a notch when it confirmed its new site at Hullavington airfield, and said would be looking to take on a further 300 engineers ahead of launch. Hullavington is 25 miles south of Versarien's HQ. Any connection? PS: that report mentions the departure of battery expert engineer Ann Marie Sastry. Where did she go? Anywhere relevant? Seems Dyson paid a fortune to acquire her patents - and then ditched them; So what battery technology is he going with instead? Or, slightly different version of events: But in an interview this May, it sounds like Dyson still hasn't found what he's looking for: - and I've found no indication of him showing any interest in Stephen Voller's zap&go batteries (Though this guy's cv does seem to tenuously imply some overlap between the two companies: ) "Dyson has worked extensively on lightweight materials" (FT) "Dyson is considering using lithium ion batteries rather than solid state in the first car, according to three people. Although the company has not confirmed a decision, a choice not to use solid state would indicate a scaling back in the technical ambitions for its first vehicle. The aim is to use solid state in the two future models, one person with sight of the plans said. Solid state batteries, which Dyson has been developing for years, are a step change beyond lithium ion technology, with the ability to drive further and charge faster." (FT) | ![]() grabster

04/7/2018 18:36 | Megan - that question could have a very long answer! If we are only allowed one sentence.....For me, early stage investment is about finding credible management who can execute their business plan with a product that has a clear market advantage. VRS obviously meets those criteria but with so many unknown variables that will ultimately generate an unknown scale of revenue and profit margin there is no current justification of anyone’s fair value. We are all buying into a revolutionary business without precedent so I look at the potential size of the addressable market for VRS, the milestones being achieved and see a business that if the plan is executed well could have annual revenues in excess of the current market cap. This is only my view and how long this this takes is unknown. We may all have inflated ideas about what industry will pay for VRS IP but the product and financial benefits for the VRS customers are the one thing we can be fairly certain about | lovat scout

04/7/2018 18:15 | Re mondays rns. 'Significant advance' in battery tech using +nanene. What does that exactly mean ? A gamechanger ? Looking further into that rns, What we do know, is that a small order for +nanene has been supplied to a chinese automotive battery maker for evaluation. From the podcast, we know the Initial enquiry was made from the UK trade mission to china this year. To my mind, given we have interest from 5/6 provinces, and likely numerous other enquiries off the back of that trade trip, it makes sense to me this claim of 'significant advance' is bona fide and is likely to be well received by the chinese battery firm and attract orders, once tested etc. Because the alternative logic suggests to make such a claim and not be able to meet it, would lose credibility - with not only the chinese battery maker, but possibly jeopardise the whole provinces deal.At this stage of the negotiations, you would want a sure fire winner, because any other option would be too risky. In other words, this claim stacks up and is very exciting development. If so, logically, there is a more than reasonable chance of success. Potentially, in a huge market. Aimho. Reach your own conclusions. Best ellis. | ![]() ellissj
04/7/2018 18:11 | lovat Data doesn't work either. A team of analysts using data formulated a plan for others to execute. Countless hours were spent on the plan by others. Then came 'our' turn to execute the plan having no prior knowledge of what created the plan. A quick wtf and throwing the data out of the window, set up a new course which sorted the issue straight away. That has happened a number of times. Knowledge is power as is checking every fine detail purporting to be knowledge. | ![]() superg1
04/7/2018 18:01 | The research model used by stockbrokers and investment banks is dying on its feet - no bad thing as it is riddled with conflicts of interest. Currently we are in no mans land as big IIs are now doing research in house and everyone else doesn’t want to pay for it. The free research from the likes of Edison and Hardman is paid for by companies who are not covered well and want to broaden their appeal but it can’t be called impartial as the research is essentially the company’s numbers and views. Eventually cheap new AI driven impartial research that trawls online for data to analyse will arrive to fill the gap and will improve on the pulp currently produced, but one way or another it needs to be paid for. Until then it’s DYOR and decent threads such as this will continue to be important sources of information although still vulnerable to misuse. | lovat scout
04/7/2018 17:52 | Ok and that is fair enough SG. I think have mentioned Tern enough on this board ... Which should after all be about VRS .. after all that's why most of us are here. I can't help one rhetorical question for all to consider ... How do you justify value in an relatively early stage company ? Net assets ... Nope. PER ... nope. Sales levels ... Nope. Cash generation ... Nope. The expectation / hope of substantial increases in all of the above ... Yes. Good management ... Yes. And if you can back that up with proper investigation and not just bulletin board chat then your valuation could just be valid. BUT for all companies like VRS, Tern and others there is risk along the way and because cash and profits are not being generated they will be open to claims of over valuation. If concerned wait until profits and cash flows arrive ... By that time though guaranteed you will be buying a lot less shares. | ![]() meganxmas

04/7/2018 17:39 | I'm staying out of the TERN debate. Plenty here know the PRG debate that was, it was con. I looked deeply and formed a strong opinion that it was. When things simply don't add up there is a reason for it. I've has a number spats on and off with share tipsters including RHPS and other such sites. That includes a recent one that claims independence not paid for research. I raised concerns about their research in one or two which completes put me off their site and claims. That included engaging the MD, the ones I raised issues about have gone south. The 'research' was wrong. Unfortunately it seems to me many accept the research of others, notes and tip sheets as correct info, then regurgitate that and add in their own bit. Generally they have a disclaimer saying nothing in it is to be replied upon. That last line imo is the only bit you need concern yourself with in any tip or note. Doing your own research is the only way imo. | ![]() superg1
04/7/2018 17:34 | From my perspective Festario they have been honest, the fundraise at 38p whoever bought them wouldn't have done it on a wing and a prayer hopefully, but who knows? The 5p statement would have had me running for the door, sounds like traders have it! "Firstly the board were very happy to raise funds when the share price was 38p, and use that as a basis to place shares. But as the price rose further, they issued a speeding ticket RNS stating categorically that the assets were actually only worth 5p a share." | ![]() luckyorange |
