20/9/2007 16:20 | Aye, none at all. | tom howard
20/9/2007 16:17 | Not at all. That is my point. How can anyone know anything about anyone on a free bb? One can only be judged over time by a measure of how much value they add imho. NAG, DYOR. | tom howard
20/9/2007 16:15 | ok, seems like you have me all worked out... Alan | confusedcoalboy
20/9/2007 15:53 | I use them because I do not wish to appear either over friendly or indeed so gullible as to accept that an anonymous poster on a free bb, using an asumed avatar would ever use their real name. Regards Hieronymus Bosch | tom howard
20/9/2007 15:42 | hmm, with your liberal use of speech marks, can I assume you're a butcher? 'Alan' aka Alan | confusedcoalboy
20/9/2007 10:07 | Good guess, I wouldnt touch this with Bald Ted's. | tom howard
20/9/2007 10:03 | I agree that it's doubtful that people will have DVD racks full of their travels to various themeparks, although is the same true of the photos too? And they sell (or so I'm told..) It's also true that the Yourday isn't the whole trick with this outfit though, they have other business in the venue side which could be a significant source of revenue. I guess you're not a holder then, Tom?! :) Alan | confusedcoalboy
20/9/2007 10:01 | And the chart looks quite excting in a roller coaster sort of manner. | tkon
20/9/2007 10:00 | Hear, hear. I wonder what Bald Ted would make of that little lot, eh? | tkon
20/9/2007 09:50 | Sorry Duplicate. | tom howard
20/9/2007 09:42 | Rubbish analogy 'Alan', How many times do you think Mr & Mrs x are gonna get that DVD out again? Its a once and once only view item imv, maybe at a quid they will go for it, but more? Not a chance imho. Riding rollercoasters is exciting (Though watching it again and again is less so, imo) 'Listening' to music, some people enjoy, I am told, though I dont myself. Reading a book, same. Posting on a free bb however serves only 2 purposes imv, passing the time of day, while entertaining yourself. If others get pleasure from that, all the better for them, if not, who cares? | tom howard
20/9/2007 09:40 | Definitely the posting on a free bulletin board as an anonymous avatar! | prambigear
20/9/2007 09:29 | Tom, a wristband is given to each group, so 2% of the groups equates to about 8% of visitors. The stats work against us here. Who says it's blurred and pointless anyway? Surely riding a rollercoaster is pointless too? Or watching music? Or reading a book? Or posting on a bulletin board? Alan | confusedcoalboy
20/9/2007 08:50 | "I could not believe that the uptake by visitors was as low as the 2% quoted" Well, you are a d1ck then. How many times have your grandchildren, upon exiting a ride, ran over to look at their photo, laughed at the shocked and frightened face they see and then walked off to the next ride, I wonder? Who on earth would pay £20/£15/£10 for 10 minutes of pointless blurred footage? Probably about the least intelligent 2% of the population imo. | tom howard
18/9/2007 17:18 | Good News: 5th ride added | comrog
03/9/2007 12:27 | It was not that I was too disinterested to attend the AGM, but that was I was in the Pays Basque at the time. Did any of our fellow posters go? The interims are very strong with sales up by 700% Year on Year. t0pgrader rightly points out the pause in growth over H1 compared with H2 2006, but laying the infrastructure, required 3 man years of skilled labour, and digging 6km of trenches. That was to lay 64 strands of fibre optic cabling linking 140 servers, 36 cameras, and 100 RFID antennae, then integrating each of these within a proprietary software platform. That was a serious distraction from the original business. According to the interims, sales over the current half do show a satisfactory resumption of growth, and the company will be very busy during September and October as it was last year. BSS - the large plumbers materials stockist - has placed the largest contract of the year and this rolls out in a few weeks' time over a few months. The Savills contract for Europe's first 'Entertainment Centre' in Manchester is nearly as large, with 150,000 people/week pouring through that site, which suggests crowds as large as at Alton Towers on a hot bank Holiday. These large new accounts in new sectors, will extend the dominance of VSH in large spaces, wherever large crowds are involved. The VHS market share in Venue Communications and Control: ie Signage, Access Control, Security, and Video is growing strongly - in Sport complexes, Shopping Centres, Luxury Hotel chains, smart Office complexes, Cinema and Retail chains, etc, etc, as well as hopefully in the future - Theme Parks. | scrutable
31/8/2007 07:48 | Confident CEO statement Outlook We believe that the opportunities for us to roll out our original Venue Solutions business and the YourDay offering, together with the synergies afforded between the various companies now within the Group, mean that we will continue to grow the business significantly and we are on track to achieve our expectations for the full financial year. We are looking forward to the future with every confidence. The interims are helpful but the financial picture is still clouded and not unexpectedly so with so much activity happening. It will take the full yr figs before we can discern the real margin structure of this business. A few points to note 1. H1 07 t/o was £0.4m lower that H2 06. Disappointing but hardly surprising given the focus upon getting AT up and running 2. Operating cash outflow in H1 was £360k 3. We are none the wiser about the terms of the deal with AT for YourDay 4. The interim BS doesn't consolidate the YourDay BS 5. Management clearly believe in the YourDay product which is likely to mean further financing at some point to fund both roll-out and YourDay equity consolidation | t0pgrader
30/8/2007 14:27 | Figures tomorrow morning. Hopefully mention of bank holiday performance too. | matt
28/8/2007 08:49 | I wonder how the weekend worked out for YourDays? I wonder if VSH will mention they halved the price when they come out with trading figures? | matt |
