23/8/2007 16:38 | I agree phil, it's a start. Also, I wonder how the other side of the business is coming along, scruts mentioned some time ago that business was strong, so hopefully that has continued. Alan | confusedcoalboy
22/8/2007 15:14 | Wikipedia has Alton Towers down as attracting 2.5 million visitors in 2005. 2% is 50,000 and with the current pricing around £15 that's just £0.75m annual revenue. How many people will repeat buy on future visits when most of the DVD is stock film? | matt
22/8/2007 09:25 | Wednesday 22nd August 2007 VENUE SOLUTIONS HOLDINGS PLC ACTIVITY UPDATE On 13th August 2007, Venue Solutions Holdings Plc ("Venue Solutions" or "the Company") announced that on Sunday 12th August its YourDay installation went live at Alton Towers. Venue Solutions is now pleased to provide this activity update on the level of take-up of the offering. From a standing start and without any publicity or pre-marketing around the product, sales so far have exceeded management expectations for this stage with approximately 2% of the Alton Towers gate buying a DVD during the first week. The YourDay DVDs currently feature personalised footage from four rides. Venue Solutions is pleased to be able to confirm that the YourDay technology has been demonstrated to be robust and consistent. Dominic Berger, CEO of Venue Solutions Holdings Plc said, "We are very encouraged by the initial sales statistics. Our first week of operation has demonstrated that there is significant consumer appetite for our personalised theme park offering. We look forward to rolling it out onto the remaining rides at Alton Towers and into other theme parks, both in the UK and around the world." The Company intends to announce its half year results on 31st August 2007. -ends- | bazzerp
22/8/2007 08:17 | Disappointing update imo. Why did they do NO marketing? Why only 4 rides (and still project was delivered late). Take up doesn't inspire as we move towards end of summer. I'm still watching before committing. | ptolemy
14/8/2007 18:23 | Scrut Will you have aword with Mr Berger sometime soon? | t0pgrader
13/8/2007 07:34 | Review by the first customer ... Hey, I got my YourDay DVD today and the guy said it was the very first they sold. So I got the very first one ever! YEY! Me special . It's a bit rubbish that it was only on those four rides but nevertheless its really good technology although I'm not sure how reliable it is right now... The wristband's also seem a little unnecessarily bulky when the chip inside it less than a centimetre in diameter and the band having a huge plastic watch like thing on it that we kept joking were our power rangers watches. The thing that I was miffed about was the fact that the sensors picked us up on all the rides that were operating it today except for guess what? NEMESIS! My favourite but I wanted the DVD anyway and the special introductory price was a nice surprise so I didn't end up paying the full £19.99 just £14.99 and I got two £10 off vouchers for our next visit to the park. The lad in the YourDay shop seemed pleased when I went "why not lets have it" and he said "you're our very first customer". The YourDay shop is very nice indeed, and the kit behind the counters looks really nice because the burning machines are inside glass cases lit up with blue light so you can see it producing your DVD. Theirs just a huge stack of the burners behind the counters it looks like some futuristic space ship its very nice. They even check the Disc works and everything so your assured you're getting it good. Also, the shop was pretty much dead...their was 2 other people having their wrist bands scanned when we were in and they didn't look like they were too impressed to want to buy. The shop is plenty spacious and it has queue barriers laid out for when the expected popularity begins...if it does take off which I hope it does. The movie itself its fantastic and the technology seems to work pretty darn good for it being their first ever go at it. The footage is all excellent. It was bucketing it down with rain when we were on Rita but because of how the camera's are positioned you'd never really tell once its put together with their pre shot footage. I'd say once all the rides are up and running on it, it will be really excellent. Although we didn't have footage of ourselves on all the rides,, as you'll be aware you get footage of all the rides edited in nevertheless and you can notice the points in which your shots would be interjected and its clear that it would be very good, especially oblivion, air and nemesis, even the flume has a moment at the end where it would capture a very good long shot of you and your friends after getting a right good soaking. It's excellent I can't wait to go back when its all working perfectly. The only thing is, when we got the band scanned the computer said that footage of us walking around the park was captured but their was none of this footage on the DVD. The sensors that activate the cameras are noticeable as you enter the park and I noticed some as you enter gloomy wood. You'll notice them easily on the rides as the cars leave the station. They're quite flat, square and situated at the sides of the tracks. I noticed them on Nemesis, and Rita and this is how I realised what the strange white objects in the wooden cases were in towers street and gloomy wood after earlier rabbiting on going "what are those...beehives?" ha-ha (I was joking I swear...). I'll stick up a photo of the wrist band when I get home tomorrow if I can. Good luck with your DVD's everyone. Here's a tip that they might forget to mention when you get the wristband. There is a small arrow on the grey plastic part of the wrist band, make sure its pointing up, that is; towards your hand and not inwards to your arm as that way the signal is more easily picked up, so we were told but many people didn't get the memo...namely me and another of my group but thankfully the girl of our group had unforeseen psychic powers and knew to have it the right way. Saying that...even though we had ours the "wrong" way they still picked up 2 of four rides and park footage but they scanned all our wrist bands and we picked the one with the most stuff. And once the online downloads are available we can use the number on the wristband (which they give back to you) and download your clips to do with as you like. (Long reply....) Paul | matt

03/7/2007 12:48 | i think they will raise cash again when alton towers is up and running myself at a higher level. lets face it , if YOUR DAY works you would want to get hold of it sharpish at these sort of prices. i would like to see venue look for at least 75 percent. if alton towers works you can bet your life there will be enormous global demand straight away and the value of YOUR DAY will go through the rof. that is why i am a share holder anyway . | sitiain
03/7/2007 12:11 | If my mental arithmatic is up to it, I make that an additional consideration of £680,000 assuuming the subscription option is taken up within one month of Alton Twrs going live. Presumably the co has sufficient cash to avoid a further share issue. | t0pgrader
02/7/2007 11:46 | 'Yourday will be live in July' according to the website graphic now. hmm.. Well, it's all good experience if they learn a lot for the next order.. | confusedcoalboy |
