Jane I've sold 40% of my holding along the way at various prices from my first purchase at 9.3p. Therefore we are in the same boat. I just wanted to bank some profits as it rose so quickly. Despite that my holding is still circa 45% of my portfolio, simply due to the massive share price appreciation. Impossible not to have a totally unbalanced portfolio if you have some massive winners. I'll sell some more at some point but happy for now to hold what I currently own.

Hi APAD. I hold plenty of quality companies which happen to be larger. One of them is AMZN, one of the biggest companies in world. However I just love looking for little gems. Something very exciting about finding a future star ahead of the crowd.

Hydrus - thank you again for mention zoo; it is now my second largest holding despite failing to resist the temptation to top slice a few times since the 130's. Its a difficult lesson to learn I find!

have to ask why they are selling at such a discounted price...

Tristel announces that it has been advised by Francisco Soler, Paul Barnes and Paul Swinney (the "Selling Directors"), that they intend to sell approximately 2,400,000 ordinary shares of 1 pence each in the Company (the "Placing Shares"), at a price of 285 pence per share, in order to satisfy institutional investor demand for the Company's shares. The Placing Shares represent approximately 5.6 per cent. of the issued share capital of Tristel.

I suppose that's why my top 4 shares are all AIM shares, H.

It developed that way, based on looking for quality companies that I could understand, rather than deliberately looking for small companies. As I became more confident in the management and the story I bought more with income from 'stalwarts', and of course they grew to overtake the stalwarts.
I was surprised at the shape of the portfolio - it goes against all conventional advice.
There are a lot of fairy-story companies out there to trap the unwary, though.

ZOO my largest holding by a mile, then BVXP and then BUR. A very nice few weeks. I'm obsessive about finding the next nanocap that will turn into a high quality company, rapidly. You only have to put in a decent stake in one or two of those and if you get it right you'll be set for life. That's why I like the 100 bagger book. Generally, people underestimate what's achievable on the stock market with discipline, hard work and relentless desire for learning. Avoiding roulette wheel companies of course.

Good find on BVXP. Pretty much a foregone conclusion, but still it kicks the price.
The spring BTFD looks wonderful with hindsight.
Still only a £160m company with 16 employees!

From Boros10 on BVXP thread: "Siemens appear to have gained FDA approval for its high sensitivity Troponin I (TNIH) assay on its ADVIA Centaur blood machine. This assay contains Bioventix's monoclonal sheep antibody and it should mean a significant increase in earnings once fully embedded across Siemen's estate of blood machines. "

Started to look at management.
They have more managing directors of divisions than members of the UK cabinet. That would put me off for a start.
Small builder - what is their advantage in the marketplace?

Not my type of business.

Picks and shovels approach does make sense as ever. I'm aware of all the companies mentioned but perhaps now will make a concerted effort over the summer to get to know them a bit better, particularly TM17 and SUMO. KWS has done very well but I'm, let's say, slightly overweight in the localisation sector with another holding, albeit not gaming related. Outside of gaming, QUIZ is interesting me at the moment. The online element is growing very fast but not being given a premium rating due to their traditional retail offering. In 2/3 years the online bit might hugely outweigh revenue from shops anyway.

Could there a picks and shovels way into gaming.
Any thoughts?
Less lumpy revenues but good exposure none the less.
Are there any programs all developers use. Or are games downloaded via a particular provider etc.
I have no idea. im more of a picks and shovels kinda guy.

Thanks guys both helpful comments. Re pipeline I understand they have a lot of games in development and they look cheap compared to say FDEV. No idea how anyone really understands if games in development will be a success. Guess it's about track record but probably a sector I'm not that comfortable with due to lack of knowledge.

I had a look at it when they IPOed and thought shares were expensive. They are down now roughly 60%. I like the sector, GAAS model.. however, games are bit of one hit wonders.. Can they consistently come up with new hits? Or there is something else to its investment case?

Hydrus, it was one of the USA companies I looked into at the beginning of the year that were involved in games , but felt that the growth in angry birds was slowing down, and it didn't have any decent games on the horizon to increase revenue growth. It was just a quick analysis a while ago, so I could be wrong or things could have changed. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
