Not easy, MJ.

Domesticated dogs are infantilised. We bred them to stay puppies. The alternative is a wild, pack animal.
A single dog that attacks is unusual, unless trained, but even infantilised dogs can be dangerous in packs (more than one).

I had a Staffordshire bull terrier once. When my daughter was born I watched it like a hawk. One sign of aggression and it would have been destroyed. No room for sentiment.

As it was I saw my daughter pull its ears and the dog's response was a resigned and plaintive look - then I could relax.

When you get 5 minutes, you might cast your sharp eye over VTC. It may be a bit toppy for now, but their website is full of high tech snippets that give a good feel for the business and type of customer that uses their gear.
The big downside is the fact that T/o and Pbt appears to have gone nowhere in 5 years, a fact that I cannot comprehend.
EssentialInvestor has picked up a few and he does have a nose for these situations.

Otherwise a very disrupted day, dipping in when I have had the odd 5 minutes.

Either I am completely off whack, or the shorters are in complete control of some sort of end game. At this point I can't call it.

IMI has gone loopy, at last, and I am back in profit, after my initial very ill timed purchase. I am still not convinced by Sellway, but he did talk a good fight on strategy and the business plan last year. Maybe it will come right at last.

Confused from Carlisle.

I have reported it, I don't want that on my conscience. Waiting for the Police.

Kill it, before it kills. Report to the police. I used to train people to train dogs. It could be a child next. One bite and a shake.

Dithered over a top up on Hils when there was a seller around.
It was a conviction buy for me but I dithered for a couple of hours o the day and it ran away. It is now +70p on the price = 6.48%. My 5% blown away!

Hey ho...

The interim results were ok but there is a big seller around, keeping the share price honest. Might move up a bit when he is exhausted.
Back in my comfort zone:
United Kingdom-based holding company that offers a range of engineering and environmental services, through its subsidiaries etc.

As LGEN was breaking out this morning, Mrs P took some at just over 251p for the excellent yield and the likelihood of cap gain. Next resis looks to be in mid 270's.

If you are a conviction buyer, it is always best to buy when the share price softens after a placing. Some participants will let some of their holding go and that ca create a temporary overhang in the market.

Usual moans about the fundamentals of Carillion. Why can't people just put up ur shut up, if they are unhappy? The changes reported today are no more than one could have expected.

Tried to buy more FARN this morning and baulked at the 370 asking price - went shopping and came back to the evidence of demand. Clearly the time to add was after the placing, which put a floor under the price.

Have sold TRCS (difficult to sell in numbers) again and again so put all the cash on SDX.

Afraid not.BVXP moving well recently. Looking forward to interim results which should be out soon. If they keep up their recent excellent revenue/profit growth and make right noises on troponin then should get completely re-rated.

A man behind the curve:

At the head of the pack was engineer IMI after analysts at Deutsche Bank upped their target price on the shares from 1,064.0p to 1,170.0p.

Does he not know that the shre price was already trading ahead of his target and has in fact powered onwards since his comment on 27 Feb.

O&G - Comment from IMI:

The oil & gas market, which represents almost a third of IMI's critical engineering revenues, continued to be impacted by falling investment, including a significant reduction in liquid natural gas (LNG) projects.

It ain't gettin' any better.

>Dacian - ''after a certain amount of experience, I found that making the right choices is actually easier than holding on to them''

Spot on. Touched a nerve with me as I have a similar problem. These days I can usually find more than 50% winners in my pf but I get nervous when they win too well and I often find myself selling out too early. I find deciding when to sell to be much more difficult than deciding when to buy. I had several bad experiences in my earlier investing years where I hung on to shares that became a very large chunk of my pf for too long and they went phut losing me a lot of money and, along with that, a lot of confidence. So now I prefer to sell too early and I try not to worry about the profit I didn't make on it.

By the way, congrats on the comp results, very impressive.

Rotork - Yesterday's news.

Goldman Sachs today reaffirms its buy investment rating on Rotork PLC and set its price target at 280p.
RBC Capital Markets today reaffirms its sector performer investment rating on Rotork PLC and cut its price target to 260p (from 275p).
Citigroup today reaffirms its neutral investment rating on Rotork PLC and set its price target at 260p.

So 260 - 280 is the target.
Hmmm.......

Carillion much as I expected.

Downside:
Underlying operating margin lower as expected at 4.9 per cent (2015: 5.3 per cent)
Net borrowing of £218.9 million at 31 December 2016 (2015: £169.8 million) and average net borrowing for 2016 of £586.5 million (2015: £538.9 million), with the increases mainly reflecting adverse movements in foreign exchange rates.
Net retirement benefit liability (net of taxation) (663.2) (317.6)

Upside:
Begin reducing average net borrowing over medium term.
Expect over £1.5 billion of revenue from framework agreements not yet included in orders, probable orders or revenue visibility.
Support services contributed over two thirds of total operating profit and more than offset expected reductions in profit from Public Private Partnership projects and Middle East construction services.

Still digesting the rest. I can live with it for now.

Couldn't resist buying a first holding in SDX yesterday. One thing I like about roulette wheel stocks is that, iff they are successful, the fee on small amounts of future income from solid stocks can be ignored and so they can be used to increase the holding.
More chips!

ELM/FSJ/CLLN, all of which I used to own, make interesting reading this morning. Something of a theme about cash being used for divi increases to maintain the share price whilst they are coping with market stagnation. None looked too bad in their own context. FSJ would be my company of choice.
