If a UK plc has a US quote, there is no withholding tax. Look at BP for example.

Agreed. As you probably know yump, it does not end there. Dividends have always been wholly anachronistic other than as monthly income for ‘widows and children’sR17; holdings in trusts cos. (or banks & insurance companies).

Dividends paid are never allowable against company tax unlike interest. They are likely to be taxed more heavily to Uk income tax in the October budget too.

What some may not know is that they are also administratively expensive. A disbursing agent (eg bank or trust company) has to be paid to calculate the uk or overseas income tax, and foreign currency exchange rate, and pay it to the relevant tax authority. These can be small sums, so the cost is relatively high, including shares owned by different people, or split or special dividends.

Finally you mention the FTSE. Ha! That’s looking decades ahead! The NYSE might be more likely if VC expands in the US. Sadly, then Uk shareholders would have to swallow the 30% US withholding tax.

Seem to recall we were encouraged to believe that there was a second big contract in the offing a couple of years ago. Nothing since.Still, looking on the cup half full side it's probably just as well as they are taking a lot longer to digest this Boeing biggie than I was anticipating.Still happy to hold but next year is pivotal imo.

Thanks - unfortunately announcements like this are exactly what big companies do to small ones. In the early stages of programmes timescales are aggressive so extra focus on factors outside immediate control like small suppliers, eventually it all settles down to achievable targets as internal constraints are recognized. It's called risk management so I discounted this announcement but would like to see new orders, there was a small positive in today's RNS in this regard.

A slightly disappointing update but fundamentally not concerning. I should like to see some new orders announced in the next periods given the longish lead times to production.

Recent article about VEL courtesy of jim89 over on the LSE BB:

Hopefully we will get some decent news one of these days. Awfully quiet when it comes to VEL news!

Just a general discussion on dividends given there won’t be any and I for one, don’t want any until they’re in the FTSE !

In my book a growth stock is a capital growth stock. Even the largest US businesses don’t pay dividends because they are intent on growth.

I guess some wealth fund managers running running IHT portfolios need the dividend to avoid selling down to cover fees.

Would you expand on the dividend please yump? First I have heard of this so assume it was something mentioned yesterday?

The token dividend probably compensates for the ii's fees in pi funds, so the performance doesn't look so bad ;-/

I hadn't realised that certain institutional investors didn't invest without a dividend but to be fair I like to see companies progressing the business and eventually rewarding shareholders. The question today was a standard one and more about cash generation beyond 2025.Very pleased with solid progress on execution, I gained the impression that once one becomes embedded into the supply chain, new business will flow through contacts and so contract wins are not are not at the expense of margins.

I wish loads of small growth companies would forget dividends - totally pointless when it could be reinvested for growth. Any investors for income have much better yields in much bigger companies. Not surprising if we don’t develop the larger businesses that the US have.

Perhaps the dividend thing reflects basic conservatism from UK investors who for some reason regard it as a positive sign, when its just a token gesture. Often only 2% anyway.

Not really! Bullish for the future. Cash positive this year. Discussions on going with multiple parties it would seem. Patience, patience is the message. No dividend for at least a couple of years, although understand that some funds want dividends before they invest.

Results look OK to me. Not much of a reaction though. This part was worth a read: Across the global aerospace industry, production rates continue to recover. Airbus has announced a doubling of A350 production rates through to 2027. The Company is continuing to work on securing additional contracts and has live bids in with customers in the US and in Europe. Although progress has slowed in some cases in the US due to the well-publicised issues with Boeing, these issues have no impact on the Company's contracted revenues for FY24 or FY25. The industry's biggest challenge is to now increase production rates in civil and military aircraft, to meet longer term demand. Back-logs on order books have grown and our services can support the need for sustainable and efficient production expansion at Tier 1 and OEM level. There is clear long-term demand for the productivity gains our services provide.

An Investor Meet presentation starts at 10.00 am UK time. Then there is the Mello event on the 15th mentioned above.
