23/6/2018 01:00 | 11 out of 9 broker targets are wrong. | kemche
22/6/2018 22:42 | NlmWhether they are met or not is not the point....institution | thejaba

22/6/2018 20:51 | Evening All, Today, a fellow poster and I met up at Oilwell Nursery just north of Tibshelf, Derbyshire. In the garden is the UK's first oilwell, Hardstoft-1. It's been plugged with concrete but as the pipe dates from 1919, it's cracked a bit and crude oil seeps up and around the plug. It's created a bit of an oily puddle/pond! And it smells rather sweet too from the aromatic compounds. The well did have a valve system on it but it got knocked off about fifty years ago when someone was illegally dumping waste from nearby coalmines. The concrete foundations for the nodding donkey are still visible as is a really quite large (for 1919) metal holding tank, about 10 feet high and probably 15 feet in diameter. The history of why they chose this site to drill is fascinating - a lot of the clues for where to find oil came from the many coalmines that had been sunk in the area, some of which had oil seeps in them. In addition, it was an analogue to West Virginia and Pennsylvania so the American geologist could make some well-informed 'guesses'. Another point of interest is the frequent number of petro-geologists that visit from all around the world! It's worth a call-by if you're in the area (Junction 29, M1). Pic follows. | caters
22/6/2018 20:43 | 9 out of 10 broker targets are never met! The prospects are good here but you need to keep your eyes open. | nlmbidc
22/6/2018 20:28 | I think we can take as given the broker targets as they are more experienced than any of us. If they say 63p then im not one to argue. | thejaba
22/6/2018 20:07 | There is a risk to every well and 36% COS is just over 1 in 3. I still don't get the 63p. 30 million barrels @ $7.5 pb npv does not equate to 63P a share. Besides which the share price will not reflect anywhere near npv. | nlmbidc
22/6/2018 19:08 | Nlmbidc, will Wick come in, have you read pages 89 to 92 on the CPR = a few risks attached to it, which is why they gave it a 36% GCoS 63p is the Npv/share value on their 30mmbls rec oil on the 40% wi Hopeful they may hit a commerical oil field based on the boards background / experience. Prefer to back these BoD's tather than a Newog / Hawk BoD's However all exploration wells are very risky, whichever way they cut the mustard to us. But they are filly funded - about £9m, which helps | euclid5
22/6/2018 18:08 | 63p reported on this B.B. source latest BN | argyle underclap
22/6/2018 18:05 | Wick will come in. The prospect is stacked with oil. Don't know where your 63P comes from though. It will need to produce 8000 bopd before that happens - and that won't be this year whatever reserves are identified. | nlmbidc
22/6/2018 17:19 | Tyler - putting Sarawak completely to one side, talk of £1 isn’t so fanciful based on other assets/prospects, ‘IF’ wick comes in, 63p, plus Similar prospectS in NA. excluding any further dilution if applicable etc. Some ‘ifs’ there but defo something to consider. And that’s completely without factoring anything in for Sara. News on NA must be close, so timescales for a significant re-rate might surprise. Talk of 5/10p seems very conservative to me, but let’s see, as we head into a busy time for UPL | argyle underclap
22/6/2018 17:15 | For balance I'm expecting 10p pre drill | thejaba
22/6/2018 16:50 | Talk of £1 is a bit premature guys & girlsA lot depends if the case is taken to the High Court. With so much at stake, I assume they will but we don't know about the politics going on behind the scenes.Expect N.Africa news next and then Wick drill if Sarawak goes to the High Court, in which case I would say 5-10p pre-drill. | tyler90
22/6/2018 15:33 | A 10p ‘short term’ target, circa £50m cap, seems a very reasonable expectation. | argyle underclap
22/6/2018 15:27 | £1 would see me salivating in the retirement home...in Barbados ! ? | doughty
22/6/2018 15:20 | One pound would see me salivating from different places Mr Clap | thejaba
22/6/2018 15:12 | As we know Wick could be worth 63pps Similar high impact North Africa prospects are “well advanced” A good measure of success with those would reasonably increase the 63pps to a share price in excess of £1 Add to that “a number of well advanced opportunities between Brooke Dockyard of Sarawak and UPL” and it’s easy to see why the directors have so much skin in the game. At 3p, the best risk/reward play I’ve seen in a long time. | argyle underclap
22/6/2018 10:40 | OK pal. 7p nice. | soulsauce
22/6/2018 10:37 | I do soul...bb software keeps changing it back !!!! Well worth a listen...ZAK very bullish on UPL...7p in the next two to three months he reckons....I reckon thats conservative with the right news :-) | doughty

22/6/2018 10:28 | ''Chief Judge of Malaya Tan Sri Ahmad Maarop, the sole Federal Court judge deciding on Petronas’ bid, said the matter should have been brought before the High Court instead. “In my view, the declaratory reliefs sought by the applicant (Petronas) do not come under the ambit of Article 4(3) and Article 4(4), hence the declaratory reliefs sought by the applicant are not within the jurisdiction of the Federal Court,” he said.'' Looks like a proceedural issue. This may have more to run if they go to the High Court | spooks4
22/6/2018 10:26 | If they want to take it to the High Court then they have to be quick since 1 July is only 1 working week away. | tyler90
22/6/2018 10:20 | Let's hope so doughty. | soulsauce
22/6/2018 10:17 | Interesting that nominal costs were awarded against Petronas ( about £10,000 ) although I doubt that legal fees would stop them trying to protect their apparently crumbling empire...they have had it too good for too long and all good things come to an end...eventually ! | doughty |
