With pump and dump stock manipulation in other junior markets (US OTC, Nasdaq capital) it's rare to suspend trading. Usually the authorised director who signed off the news
release in question resigns with immediate effect, even if only guilty by association, thereby minimising the damage. Will Upland's CEO do the right thing now and step down?

Sorry to bust your bubble the company have been negligent in their duties and did not carry out checks on the bidder and just taking it at face value.

Borrowed post but so true MM will play games but this is not material news that would cause the price to tank and stay down permanently. A low ball placing, a dry well, warnings about late accounts, being sued, a decision to delist, warnings about financial status, these are matters that cause a price to tank. The withdrawal of an offer is not one of them unless the price reflected the offer price. The price never reflected the offer price of 14p in the first place. It closed at 4.5p when it was 3p before the offer news. The news was released on Friday evening so investors will have the whole weekend to sleep on it. I believe this will have less of an impact then if the news was released 07:00 Monday, but we shall see.You are quite right about faith in the management. The pressure is on for them to repair the damage caused to their reputation.

Boring!!!! A weekend with the whole team out in force slinging dirt hoping some lands on the company, when spiv scammers are the one's to blame. Obviously they need sellers to buy from and close up, and they'll be competing with second chance PI's who missed the boat first time around. Either that or you guys hang around for the PSC and volumetrics? Wouldn't that be something :)

Got to say I thought I had seen everything on the markets over 20yrs but this is a new low.
To give them the benefit of the doubt there may have been something to this bid but the mgt have hardly covered themselves in glory and have handled this poorly.
Not sure what happens from here. Luckily I am a lth so it doesn't matter so much for me but feel sorry for any suckered in.
Fair play to those that called it out from the off.
I think serious questions need to be asked if a large slug of those new warrants have been sold into the market.

Always grounds for suspicion when you see batches of cheapo warrants being exercised. Great opportunity to make big money on the hype and spike. Insiders taking advantage, sounds like corruption.
10m exercised at 0.4p and sold at 5p = a nifty trousering of near on half a million quid. Nice work if you can get it.

Thank you Log and Jacknife for your detailed and straight posting this week. I have been watching this con unfold from the sidelines and you two have hopefully kept naive PIs from putting money, or too much, into this by posting hard facts.
Well done.

As the dust settles on the Upland Resources fake bid scandal some are now asking; is this the biggest market manipulation/pump & dump of a UK plc since Worthington Group?

Market Manipulation
The disclosure of inside information should be precise in nature.
The information should be full and complete and free from errors.

Delay of disclosing the information is allowed if the issuer sees fit, provided that
it does not result in the public being misled, including if 'foul-play' is suspected.

Section 89 (Making misleading statements)
The offense is committed if a person knowingly makes a false or misleading statement
or is reckless as to whether such conduct may fraudulently induce others to transact.

Any offense under this section carries a maximum punishment of 7 years’ imprisonment and/or an unlimited fine.

Several posters were adamant there was an actual offer and that a higher offer would be along shortly. Where are they now?

This was an odd share even before the offer debacle. Have they ever said they have a stake in the Sarawak block? Have they ever said why they were spending money on studies into a block where they seemingly had no announced stake?

Then there's been the share price action. They actually issue a separate RNS just saying they are looking at a rig. That's it. So what? But buying ensues. What's that all about?

The bod said 14p undervalued "the potential" of the company. They seem to have done nothing to check the approach out. At best they were naive amateurs.

So I never understood this share. But if you were the Sarawak government, would you trust these people to explore a potentially large field?

The management of the company issued a "post close" RNS on a Friday.

Ask yourself why.

Classical behaviour.

Time over the weekend for the mug punter to blow his anger away and then start rationalizing the shenanigans of the past week.

The share price never moved to meet the 14p potential offer.

It got nowhere near it.

An indication that nobody took it seriously. But some made use of it.

Did anyone see: "recent media speculation concerning the possibility of an offer being made for the entire issued and to be issued share capital of Upland"?

It would be useful to see what the company was referring to. And at what level.

I wonder if any resignations are going to occur on Monday.

If not, it might mean the management are quite happy with what has gone on this week and their part in it.

Be careful.
