There is a saying about empty vessels.... I try not be categorised as such. Mind you, this post is putting my average up.

Tempted to add to GSK; leeway for GSK to further reduce 2021 guidance
if the pandemic continues to impact healthcare systems in to H2.
May be that's allowed for in the current SP, but not sure.

Good trading stock over last two years, like gsk, range bound no real growth, buy around 4 sell around 4500, nice earner twice a year, in at 39. Only thing you can do with dog index of the world ftse 350, trade it dont invest in it. Invest in the S&P.

Please don't use the term speculative punt,

not good for my blood pressure.

Has a look of under £39.

I've been buying Unilever since 2500's and never felt nervous holding before... Having said that, I've topped up again today and will continue buying this fall and see how my position looks in a couple of years time. Never thought Unilever could end up in the "speculative punt" area of my portfolio. Strange times.

EI On the tea business. Is it conceivable that they been waiting to complete the unification before progressing some deals?

Just taken a little nibble as sell off overdone imho. All that is needed is a small positive announcement.

Definite news of the tea divestment would be very helpful to sentiment.

Now talking about an IPO, that may be a tactic to increase the value of direct approaches.

unastubbs - yes, I didn't think anyone else was around, sorry.

The article is mostly reportage of the main points in the results, with the conclusion:

“Resilience is what investors expect from defensive leaders like cupboard-filler Unilever”, said Dan Lane, senior analyst at investment platform Freetrade, adding that “after a year like 2020 it looks like the company has broadly held up its side of the bargain”.

Notwithstanding “battle scars” on the balance sheet, “maintaining its dividend and upping it in the fourth quarter is a sign that Unilever knows how important that income is to yield-hungry investors flocking to the quality compounders since 2008”, Mr Lane commented. Buy.

I'd go for Shell over BP I think. But its interesting being reminded what the price was back in May because since then its been all the way to the high 40s since.
