Did you know that in the UK alone $40 million has been spent on cannabis research since 2000? This has resulted in more "Real World Data (RWD) to support the safety and efficacy of cannabis than any other pharmaceutical drug."

ok, give you that, he did say it. however in the current post pandemic world we live in, it is to be expected things will take longer especially considering the extra amount of legalities that need to be overcome.

Therefore based on those comments not being achieved, this is beginning to look very dodgy unless the FCA have actually decided to kick this adventure into the long grass?

Re. Panda chops I suggest you do some proper research before posting fake news!

if you read the original article below in full you will see there are some hurdles to overcome but this is a small part of what was said about relisting date.........

............Hellenic’s Vice President Davinder Rai is confident that it will become a listed company, despite the UK’s complex legal framework surrounding such investments.

Mr Rai told BusinessCann: “We expect to join the LSE before the end of October at the latest.”

Mucho - I think you need to stick to investing in FTSE 100 stocks. This clearly isn’t good for your mental health.

That’s all very well but if the FCA don’t approve the deal by 2nd February we won’t have any shares as the Spac will be delisted I assume.

News today reports that the #MedicalCannabis market will reach $53.88 billion in revenue by 2030, up from $6.82 billion in 2020. Poised at the forefront of the #EU medical cannabis market, we’re well-placed to capitalise on this exceptional growth🚀

Puzzler… different but they both have the same outcome…i.e. someone else walks off with your cash!

muchodinero - let's keep it real - an investment here in SPAC is completely different to being suckered in to a Ponzi scheme

fca have a responsibility to check the claims in the submitted draft prospectus, not least that there is a site in greece which forms the basis of the business. if a miner were listing, fca wouldn't be checking the land/mine site themselves they'd be looking for a reputable consultancy like srk to include their report with the prospectus.

as for awaiting due diligence from multiple jurisdictions, it might be the case that as the long stop date approaches, in consultation with the fca, those jurisdictions that haven't 'answered' key questions are taken out of the prospectus and dealt with after listing.

btw uk spac rules changed circa 10aug in response to lord hill's uk listing review

what keeps me positive here, is that post brexit, london is looking over its shoulder towards amsterdam-frankfurt and can't afford to trip over. it needs and wants spacs to be a success and wants more of them.

from another article - 'After a surge in activity in SPACs or "blank check" companies on Wall Street and more recently in the European Union and emerging markets, Britain is keen that London is not left behind.' - but it was left behind.

Well if that’s the case you would have thought the Spac would have done their homework before thinking up such a risky deal, Knowing the FCA would kick it into the long grass. This is all looking a bit of a dodgy scam maybe?

The main problem as I see it, is that Hellenic sell products which contain more than 2% THC in them. THC isn't currently legal above 1% in the UK

That's not how transactions work. SPAC will have done it's own due diligence prior to agreeing to transact with Hellenic. At that point the acquistion will have been referred to the FCA who begin their own review into everything.

I’m still surprised that lengthy due diligence wasn’t done with the FCA before they signed a £40million plus deal with Hellenic?

We haven't been scammed muchodinero, but we are suffering from the effects of the FCA and expensive lawyers, both of whom are famous for dragging their heels and anquishing over problems that don't exist. Let's hope that all the advisors are on "success only" fees, giving them a real incentive to get this concluded in advance of 31 January.

Isn't there a technicality for avoiding such an outcome - i.e. invest the spare cash in government gilts so that the company becomes an investment company and thus avoid the de-listing? Personally, I'm starting to think that my small investment here is a write-off - can't see this concluding by 2 February.
