19/6/2017 16:16 | Yes, I wish I'd sold at 240p, didn't see this coming. Libya production up, Nigeria up, shale up! API tomorrow then EIA and then baker Hughe's. An interesting week ahead for me anyway... starting to hurt a bit.... At least the sucker is here to remind me of what an idiot I am! What pearls of wisdom will he bestow upon us next? | mcsean2164

18/6/2017 14:13 | Mariopeter, I thought this was interesting from peakoilbarrel CLR, EOG, OAS & WLL Long Term Debt: 2007 = $2.4 billion 2016 = $19 billion So, with the price of oil above $100 from 2011 to mid 2014, these companies continued to ramp up their long term debt. So, it makes perfect sense if they weren’t making money at $100, then of course technology has made them profitable at $30-$40. Furthermore, just to SERVICE the interest on their debt, these four companies INTEREST EXPENSE has also ballooned. Here is the increase in INTEREST EXPENSE: CLR, EOG, OAS & WLL Interest Expense 2007 = $136 million per year 2016 = $1 billion per year So…. just like the poor slobs who can only pay their minimum credit card interest payment, these four companies are now paying $1 billion per year, just to service their debt. There's a lot of sunk cost in shale and lots of different well variables but even if they go bust someone else will just hoover up the assets. I don't think shale is going away any time soon | mcsean2164
18/6/2017 13:50 | Interesting article about what really will happen with shale in the US. | mariopeter
