07/2/2024 10:34 | Tritax gets go-ahead for Biggleswade logistics park expansion plans - Tritax Symmetry, Tritax Big Box’s dedicated logistics development company, has been granted detailed planning permission for the third phase of Symmetry Park, Biggleswade, totalling 927,000 sq ft of logistics space. Central Bedfordshire Council has approved plans for three new logistics buildings to be developed, totalling 384,325 sq ft, 287,200 sq ft and 255,700 sq ft. All three facilities will be built to net zero carbon in construction and will target a BREEAM ‘Excellent&rsq “Tritax Symmetry has successfully developed this site into a highly sustainable distribution park for local, regional and international businesses,” said Tom Leeming, development director at Tritax Symmetry. “In addition, our business has worked together with the local community and provided considerable funds resulting directly from the development for the exciting Kitelands project. We’re looking forward to delivering the next phase, with further announcements due imminently on those plans, to attract further high-quality jobs and economic growth to the town.” Tritax has granted Biggleswade Town Council £57,700 for the town’s Kitelands Recreation Ground improvement project for the creation of a new toddlers’ play area. Mark Foster, mayor of Biggleswade, said: “The town council would like to thank Tritax Symmetry for their continued investment in the local community. This additional funding is a valuable and much-appreciated contribution to the town council’s wider play area refurbishment programme.” The first two phases of Symmetry Park, Biggleswade, offering a total of 1.24m sq ft, are fully occupied by The Co-operative Group, Bidfood, Bowman Ingredients, Noatum Logistics and Bond International. The sales have taken a lump out of rental income but looks like the asset mgt activity has neutralised that from the narrative but not difficult to just quote the number! Anyhow they've proven adept at getting the money back on developments but I guess the question is whether the logistics bubble has burst or not.
