27/4/2017 12:50 | BT Fleet didn't not give numbers but did say they advise their clients on best practice and one of those practices is successful deployment and utilisation of their telematics system. e.g Trakm8. Sorry no more than that. Their stand was very busy. | 40toolong
25/4/2017 19:27 | See if you can find out how many devices they have with us and if they booked any new clients :P | blondeamon
25/4/2017 18:47 | BT Fleet are at the CV Show. Heading up tomorrow for a look. | 40toolong
25/4/2017 15:07 | They do not currently appear as an exhibitor for the 10th May Exhibition at Silverstone. There are some big names announced including BT Fleet. | bhxian
25/4/2017 13:04 | They do attend the Fleet Show though, I think it's mid May. That one is more important I believe. CV show has hiked prices significantly past years so no wonder smaller companies stopped going to it. | blondeamon
25/4/2017 12:59 | Just checked, most of the major telematics companies e.g Masternaught and Trakm8 and many of the major manufacturers are not attending the CV Shoe this year. Don't blame them. In this age of social media it is a very 80's way of trying to get customers. Well done Trakm8, finally a good decision! | 40toolong
24/4/2017 15:28 | "Yes usually always 1st day of CV show" Your usual attention to detail. Thanks blondeamon. | michaelmouse
24/4/2017 14:04 | Yes usually always 1st day of CV show, which is tomorrow. Just a Trading Update though, but usually has tons of info on it. I guess they will do it as it is a summary of the whole year and their chance to give the final profit warning and start fresh the new year. | blondeamon
24/4/2017 13:21 | Cheers dave2608. Remiss of me not to see that, although in my defence we had an early trading update in late February which we haven't had before. Interesting to see if they do indeed update again. | michaelmouse
24/4/2017 13:13 | Year end trading update was on the 26th April last year michaelmouse. The year before it was on the 23rd April. So you'd expect it to be anytime soon. | dave2608
24/4/2017 13:00 | blondeamon - Have I missed something? Results are usually issued in July with a current trading update. Year end is March 31st. Can't find any reference to tomorrow? | michaelmouse
24/4/2017 12:37 | Signal of a bad year to be delivered tomorrow, hopefully putting in the bottom. If not I'll be looking to add on any weakness. Looking forward to hear number of devices, anything above 197k is superb. Also any new contracts would be nice to hear about. | blondeamon
21/4/2017 18:15 | I am trying to get hold of the CEO. Looks like a nice and simple company. Keen. | 40toolong
21/4/2017 17:02 | Makes you wonder 40toolong. I don't know the answer, I'm afraid. I can only hazard at a guess that when it comes to marketing / publicity Lightfoot are much more savvy. From what I can see, they seem to have featured on a fair few South West regional TV programmes. As I see it, that's basically free advertising / publicity. Their advertising seems to be quite punchy too. From what I can make out Lightfoot is the telematics arm of Ashwoods Electric Motors. And in their own words. "Ashwoods electric motor technology is disrupting the electric motor market for both on and off highway vehicles. Ashwoods motors are smaller, lighter, more efficient, more powerful and lower cost than the motors currently being used in high volume electric vehicle applications". Absolutely no idea how big they or how their telematics offering compares to others. The Fleet News article doesn't say how much the government funding is. It only says "Lightfoot has secured Government funding for a £1.8 million project" I suppose they must be making a few right noises in the appropriate places though to obtain funding. | dave2608
21/4/2017 16:18 | Why is Trakm8 not getting at much coverage? We are way better no? | 40toolong
21/4/2017 15:36 | Big talk here "And next we're going to disrupt the whole insurance sector" | dave2608
21/4/2017 15:11 | Never heard of Lightfoot until 40toolong's post. Here's a few videos. Disruptive products apparently. Connected car revolution? Quite a bit of TV coverage too. | dave2608
21/4/2017 15:02 | Am having difficulty getting this article up. What I did notice was a news item that AA announced and hear I quote the Headline "The AA telematics trial predicts a third of faults before breakdown". Now I presume this is Trak technology. Correct me if I am mistaken. | bhxian
21/4/2017 14:06 | Why the hell are we not winning these and who the hell are Lightfoot!!?? hxxp://www.fleetnews | 40toolong
20/4/2017 16:07 | Thanks. I clearly agree with your thoughts about the market in general and her attempts to identify an explosive segmentation opportunity in particular. Presumably Trak will get a proportion of the monthly subscription revenue and no doubt some of the one off fee. Is there any way of knowing how much -from your previous research how much they receive from others such a Direct Line etc. As far as the general point about the market potential -this I believe to be ground-breaking-and likely very soon to be followed by a number of "me toos". | bhxian
20/4/2017 15:09 | Indeed I am, not so much with SDC but mostly with Penny. I knew her track record from Wunelli, she is a a star performer. Her company is the first to provide telematics to older drivers and a HUGE experiment that if it pays off it will catch like wildfire. They only accept very good drivers, with long history of no claims/accidents and they subsequently reduce their rates substantially. They also drop any bad drivers if they keep driving dangerously. Win win for middle man and insurance company both. The car insurance market is 10x bigger on this target audience, their insurance is underwritten by AXA which opens doors for Trakm8 with another insurer. Young drivers are the smallest part and yet we make so much money off them, imagine if the whole market considered black box insurance. I don't have their numbers as they are not publically listed and that info is proprietary. But I know they charge an one-off fee of 25£ for the box and 7.99£ per month ever since. I would assume we make a few of quids per device on that to provide the data analysis, on par with all our other insurance products. | blondeamon
20/4/2017 14:43 | Blondeamon I have noticed that you are quite impressed with the SmartDriverClub proposition and it would appear to be quite compelling -certainly in price and service terms. Do you have any figures on their current sales level/subscribers and also - how much Track receives and if so is it a yearly or monthly fee? | bhxian
19/4/2017 23:12 | Penny Searles at it again, watch this space. She's a remarkable businesswoman. | blondeamon
18/4/2017 13:17 | Could help explain strength. | horndean eagle
12/4/2017 09:45 | This is how Trakm8 does its marketing, through amazing tech products that make our partners stand out and be leaders on their area. CV show coming up soon, I am very optimistic that this year's range of products will attract a lot of new deals at the show and book more contracts in the second half. | blondeamon |
