31/3/2017 09:01 | The boardroom setup at Trak has always looked a bit odd. Instead of a non-executive chairman and a separate chief executive, we have had the company's biggest shareholder, John Watkins, holding the title of executive chairman and his son, Mark Watkins, as chief operating officer. The appointment of Keith Evans as deputy chairman makes some sense. But the fact that it takes place "with immediate effect" at the exact end of the company's financial year, rather than be announced at the time of the company's AGM makes me a tad nervous that everything is not running smoothly under Trak's bonnet. Perhaps the appointment just reflects normal growing pains of a relatively small high tech company. Evans is an ex-PwC partner and has a CV packed with advisory work. Not clear whether he has ever had any chairman's experience. That said he did invest £100,000 in the recent share placing. | bottomfisher

30/3/2017 19:32 | jamiep.. Paul Scott has a 60% success ratioAny reason to objectively think TRAK is in that 60%? | pj0077
30/3/2017 17:03 | Paul Scott mentioned in passing that he's back in at 65p in today's SCVP. | jamiemp
30/3/2017 08:42 | Nothing, he's clueless. | blondeamon
30/3/2017 08:27 | What makes you say profit forecasts will be increased? | pj 1
30/3/2017 08:20 | I have just reread the interim financial report its worth reading and sets out the company's vision for the future. The board looks balanced and have invested heavily with their own money recently. We should start to see good news starting to flow with profit forecasts rising.A lot of big player will be sitting on the side lines waiting for a reverse trend to develop but the brave entering at these levels could make a killing. | ch1ck
29/3/2017 11:58 | Bigger trades coming through now which is a great sign.Hopefully we will hold above 80p and the spread will close up. | ch1ck
28/3/2017 20:30 | And more news on the insurance front. Didn't I tell you to watch out for Penny Searles? She built the telematics proposal of Wunelli and now she spun off her own company, choosing TRAKM8 among dozens of competitors to supply the product and data. After booking StoneAcre last month, she now partner with John Clark. ============== "John Clark gets connected with Smartdriverclub aftersales app" "John Clark Motor Group is partnering with Smartdriverclub to become the first used car dealer in Scotland connect to customers via the business’ loyalty-boosting app. Branded ‘JC Connect’, the new service is being provided free to all used car buyers from March 2017 and will equip customers with tools that will allow them to track mileages for business expenses, keep track of service and tax reminders and gain location services to assist breakdown and emergency assistance services. In turn, Smartdriverclub will be able to access servicing and maintenance data, such as fault alerts, low battery and collisions to so that John Clark can engage with customers to arrange repairs, check-ups and replacement vehicles. Customers can access their own data and tools via a smartphone app which collates data provided by a Smartdriverclub device installed into the vehicle’s OBD port. “This partnership with Smartdriverclub means we can offer our customers all the peace of mind and money saving benefits that come with car connectivity, usually only enjoyed by new car owners,” said Clare Clark of John Clark Motor Group." Smartdriverclub chief executive, Penny Searles, said: “We are working closely with John Clark Motor Group to maximise the opportunities our connected car service can bring to their motor retail network. “Our proposition really fills the technology gap between new cars and used in a way that benefits both customer and dealer. “We are delighted forward thinking dealers such as John Clark are grabbing the opportunity to engage with customers in a new way, boosting retention by delivering an ongoing level of care even after they’ve left the showroom.” | blondeamon
28/3/2017 20:25 | Another partnership on fleet telematics. Basically we sell them our data, think this is the first of this kind of partnership for Trak. ================== "OverSite telematics system from OnGrade" "OverSite, which has been developed and fine-tuned in partnership with Trakm8, collects essential data from SiteZone in the event of a zone breach to help managers monitor and improve site safety. Customers have full access to the system via a dedicated login, which allows them to view information such as the number of unauthorized entries into a safety zone as well as a real-time display of the length of time spent within these zones. By generating this information, performance reports can be created to highlight key issues within specified zones or specific personnel safety breaches. The live data shows the location of the machine and identifies the vehicle operator’s SiteZone tag, plus any other SiteZone tags that are active in the relevant safety zone. The report function collates all the data, allowing site and health and safety managers to see how sites are performing and if workers are following the requisite safety practices." "John Watkins, executive chairman of Trakm8, said: ‘We are pleased OverSite is utilizing Trakm8’s leading data insights to log safety breach incidents. Using a cloud-based system such as Trakm8’s means managers can track multiple sites without the logistical implications. This practical information can help to identify training needs and track progress towards company safety goals.’" | blondeamon
28/3/2017 18:36 | Meh, AA are selling the device at 29 GBP. How much of that goes to Trakm8 (if it is their device)? Is this part of their SaaS model? 33% of the trial said it saved them fuel, 49% said they "understood car issues" better. Whatever that means. What does that indicate in terms of customer conversion? I would have thought there's a better deal to be had selling this to car manufacturers but I think Watkins explained why they aren't chasing that at the Capital Markets day. I forget. | jamiemp
28/3/2017 15:53 | The money supplement of the FT this weekend showed a lot of directors buying shares last week.If this news is correct then this could multibag from here.I have just bought another 10k the spread is too high but will close once we are above 100 | ch1ck
28/3/2017 13:27 | I think its powered by Trakm8, no? They reference a trial since April 2016, which is when Trakm8 technology was used on their commercial fleet. At the time it mentioned they might make it available to personal customers in future. One would assume its the same box. Blondeamon will have the answer no doubt :0) | jamiemp
28/3/2017 10:32 | yes but what does Car Genie have to do with TRAKm8 - Nothing so far as I can see with a web trawl - or am I missing something ? | pugugly
28/3/2017 10:01 | One line from AA's final results released today caught my eye: "We are encouraged by our connected car technology trial and its potential, particularly as a tool to pre-empt breakdowns". Does this involve Trak? | bottomfisher
28/3/2017 09:00 | It's starting. Car Genie: New AA device predicts car breakdowns before they happen Goes out at May 1. Soon will be followed by a black box insurance offering from AA for their existing members. How many members do they have again? 3.3 million? | blondeamon
27/3/2017 13:03 | Interesting take on that article. I read it as they have a robust product and business model. I'm not in it as it seems fully valued to me, whereas there is a buying opportunity here if things do pan out. | jamiemp
27/3/2017 11:37 | Finncap reiterated their buy target 180p this morning. | paleje

24/3/2017 15:41 | Uber should buy them. My driver was going in circles for 10min the other day. I wouldn't put any kind of automatic stop loss on something like this: its too volatile. The key is not to take too big a position in the first place. Having said that, I don't take my own advice and up to my eyeballs in Trak shares. At least I can use the certificates for TP if I run out. | jamiemp
24/3/2017 15:31 | Do any of you guys who are still in have a disaster stop or do you just hold it all the way down? I am not trying to imply that it will go down further, just a question. | spooky |
