& confirmation of nuclear subs build all over the media; double boost.
I bought a tad too early 2 weeks ago, but back in the black now.
WTF!!! It's a 2 to 3 year hold for me....

Might get a top-up opportunity when the sizzle goes quiet.

The jump was a surprise, until I twigged it was news yesterday of the work having already started on the first successor to Trident.

90 trades in the first 2 hours is very unusual, without a RNS.

Careful; we are not allowed to know Successor's target.More seriously, if we have escaped the gas compression Saga and been refashioned, well done.

Indeed:

The Successor project will now move into the next stage, known as ‘Delivery Phase 1 ...

At a ceremonial event at the BAE Systems yard – the home of British submarine construction – next week, Mr Fallon will begin the work with a ‘steel cut’. Several hundreds of suppliers are expected to be involved in the programme at its peak, almost 85 per cent of those based across the UK – securing jobs from Scotland to the South of England.

Yes, interesting prices today but as someone said recently it's just "noise".
There are two things that the market (aim investors?) always seem to miss/ignore and that's
1 Cash
2 An almost stand alone part of the business that is worth more than the whole business.

As far as the second point is concerned I suggest people look back at Bioquell (BQE) and Avingtrans (AVG). Both these companies had a market cap well south of the amount that a part of the business was recently sold for.

TPG has the submarine business that looks like having an EBITDA of close to £4m this year, about to sign a £50m seven year contract with the MoD and is sole supplier to many navies throughout the world.

Very difficult to put a price of less than £35m/£40m on this unit.
The company is expected to have cash of £8m at the year end.

At 4.75p(today) TPG has a total market cap of £20m.

Take the cash and build up the engineering side (less than £2m has been spent so far in creating this unit ) and with the other two units you still have a viable business.

Not sure I would want the submarine business sold at this point but people should be aware of its value of c. 9p a share.
Cash, almost 2p a share.

Do you think the new Sizewell nuclear plant contract for heat exchangers and ancillary equipment will go to a company that is a critical supplier to the M.O.D. and does procurement work for the government.

Just a post lunchtime mull ;-

...a little Aussie submarine news :

The federal government and French shipbuilder DCNS have signed an agreement to begin designing new submarines for Australia - which begins the work on the $50 billion future submarine program.

The reason behind it is outlined at:

So they two reasons are somewhat conflicting - pay money back to shareholders via dividend or be able raise extra money via fundraising share issues in order to go out and get acquisitions.

From wording of the RNS I'd guestimate the latter is more likely in their master plan. Given present precarious state of stock markets then I hope acquisitions aren't immediately done at market top.... but on bright side if they can pick-up some synergistic companies in the forthcoming fire sale it'll be excellent ....plus submarine projects are likely to proceed even in a severe world economic downturn.

So I'd say that long term the downside for TPG is limited and there is good upside potential with steady progress of this company .... just my 2p's worth .....therefore I am remain a holder - long term gain with minimum pain
