Sat 20 Jan - some fund manager writing in the Money Section of the FT gave Tomkins as her tip. The argument went that it is going through a pretty thorough self-examination and will come out stronger...with the useful yield to sustain interest.

Shame they did that deal to sell RHM, all the anylists thought it was a great thing to get out of being a diversified group and focus on Engineering. RHM is being sold for more than the Market value of Tomkins now. Just as well anylists don't run companies.

Slowdown in US economy and weak dollar will hold this share back next year in my opinion.

Seems to have stabilised over the last few weeks .Not sure any of the above takeover rumours has any substance , but I am happy to hold in medium term ; good yield.

UK engineer Tomkins headed higher as traders began speculating on a possible deal, with private equity investors said to be interested in making a bid for the company.
