Errrrrm.........Osmond, their dividend history was 'consistently' flat at 12p for the 4 years 2001-2004, rising to 12.6p in the year to 1/1/05 covered only 1.8 times. Why does that make them 'under-rated'?

Regards, Ian

This stock is under rated - just look at their consistent dividend history

Competitors quitting should be a good thing for Tomkins as there will be less companies bidding for work.

Is Tomkins share price not at risk because of the marked downturn in the US manufacturing car market with several component suppliers calling it a day? Tomkins have a considerable interest in the automotive components business with their powertrain, fluid and wiper systems and other automotive products for which they are a major supplier to the American market.

This thing's being hammered. Aside from XD, does anyone know why?

Absolutely. Tomkins is making good progress and investing heavily in growth markets and new technology. The 4% + yield adds to the attraction. It's the Gillette of the auto sector.

I bought in at 250 for my HYP. You're not totally alone here :)

Nobody seems interested in Tomkins - no comments on recent results. It looks like it is making another attempt to break £3.

SP has not been below 240 for nearly 2 years, are they going lower or is this a good time to buy in? any chartists out there with a view.

Tomkins share price did pretty well today given its exposure to US and the 170 point drop in the Dow on Tuesday. Hopefully it will move up again over the next few days and get above £3.

Just noticed this thread. Have had a few deals on this one over the years.
If you add a couple of charts say daily and 6months it would be more useful.
Thanks for reminding me.

To Tompion
Thanks for your observation. Much appreciated.
Have a look at MAN group, you might fancy it. A lot of upside, I think.
Gone long on it myself, about 48 in the money.
Kind regards

Tomkins chart looking good - seems to be breaking out of its downward trend - hopefully heading up to test the 3 quid level ahead of the results.

Analysts are always quick to point out the downside of a weak dollar, ie converting profits back to sterling reduces profit for same sales.
However, low dollar reduces costs of exports and increases sales and after a sustained period, market share as other weaker players drop out of the market.
This approach requires patience but will surely pay off for Tomkins long term.
