18/7/2007 13:20 | Hi james, yes looks that way will see how the rest of the day pans out... | 68steve
18/7/2007 13:06 | Hi cycling. This is better is it not? Glad I had some at 4.05 but sorry I refused a top-up at 4.55 earlier... still, can't win 'em all. Your Pa in law must be dead chuffed by now. | cleo1601
18/7/2007 13:06 | 68steve, I think you can safely say its broken 4.5p now ! | james 2
18/7/2007 12:05 | at 31p tir holding is valued at 7.5 million excluding the 3mil sold the other day £8mil in total!!! | doc robinson
18/7/2007 11:48 | If it breaks 4.5p might join would indicate chart break out... | 68steve
18/7/2007 11:34 | I am expecting at least 6p on the bid over the coming weeks..........they have made an absolute stack on AST......what a portfolio. | cyclingnut
18/7/2007 10:37 | Got my new computer, but not all my files have been transferred across so unable to see the accurate effect of AST @ 30p. Even after dropping that 3m AST, the TIR NAV must now be c.8.5p - not surprising that someone just paid 4.4p for 250k. Logging off to transfer my TIR portfolio across from the old computer - if I can hack it! | skyship
18/7/2007 10:09 | curt, you forget that wining and dining in London every day and night is rather an expensive past time! | cyclingnut
18/7/2007 09:54 | TIR have sold 5 mil shares in AST since 2006 report (29m down to 24m at present). Current holdings are valued as follows. AST 24M @ .25 = £ 6M, Franconia = £ 1.1M, Nautical = £ .7M, Other bits & pieces = £ 1.2M, giving a total of £ 9M for the investments. Then there is cash at bank of approx £ 4M, giving an all up value around £ 13M. Shares issued less the buybacks is now 175 million shares giving a net asset value about 7.4p. Therefore, at current share price of 4.1p TIR appears undervalued and should have little downside risk. However do your own research. I am a rather bored holder dissatisfied with last years total inactivity and no information in report of payments to directors or reference to £ 493,000 of administrative expenses ! Seems rather alot for a year of dormant operations. | curt3
18/7/2007 09:45 | Tiltonboy - thanks for that - we may see another AST reduction RNS tomorrow even. You on hols over there? Topvest - all I stated earlier regarding questions to BR at the AGM still stand. It is only the rise in AST which has instigated a sudden flurry of activity - the NAV rose so Strongbow could achieve a reasonable price for their TIR sale; and the higher AST price quite rightly triggered a further dilution of the now massively overweight holding. Obviously everything is finally moving in the right direction, however the past 3 years singular lack of investment ideas and high cash balances do together require some discussion and resolution. My tender proposal would surely help resolve matters. | skyship
18/7/2007 09:21 | Surprised TIR are into MNT a I thought Minmet was always a bit of a dog? | cyclingnut
18/7/2007 09:11 | with the significant climb in ast perhaps nett assets are close to standing at the 50% discount again | ntv
17/7/2007 22:12 | Probably for tax reasons!! Can you see this putting on any serious gains (say 1p) from todays closing price in the short term, is it so closley aligned to AST that if AST flies then this edges up but if AST has not such good news in the coming weeks then this will get smacked down to size and I will be trapped for years to come?!! Bit negative but gotta cover all the angles eh? | cyclingnut
17/7/2007 21:57 | You can spot 90% of BR's investments shortly after they are made through IPO documentation - you just have to do your research I'm afraid. Most investments are going through Starvest and Sunvest at the moment, leaving TIR and GDH inactive. Why? I don't know - would be good if someone could ask Bruce next time they speak to the man. I might even give him a call myself in a few weeks when I have some more time. He's quite approachable! | topvest
17/7/2007 21:21 | suppose if I went to the AGM and said........."are you able to give us an indication of how many, if any companies you are looking to invest in next quarter..(under my breath....) and as a share holder in TIR can you tell us when you do pile in or as soon as you have? I see nothing wrong with them being able to disclose to a shareholder immediately after they have taken a position in a co. There website could have a banner headline ticker type feature......... | cyclingnut
17/7/2007 21:13 | Their holdings are all disclosed in the annual report on their web-site. There haven't really been any new REPORTED investments recently and so is probably still up to date, albeit with 3m fewer AST. | topvest
17/7/2007 21:04 | topvest, As shareholders are we privvy to what stocks TIR ahve on the radar and what stocks they actuially pile into? | cyclingnut
17/7/2007 20:53 | Well TIR is sitting pretty with AST at 28p and having sold £500k's worth today..how things can change. Everyone was slagging off the inactivity of the directors a few days back. They can carry on being inactive as far as I'm concerned!! | topvest
17/7/2007 20:50 | metallica, too right mate, we got the yanks and the japs and the oz market..........hey. | cyclingnut
17/7/2007 19:52 | In the UK but the casino never really shuts! | metallica
17/7/2007 17:21 | nd, instead of nit picking, should you not be planning how you are to spend your AST profits?!! Lighten up...smile and relax........the casino is shut for the day now.... | cyclingnut
17/7/2007 17:10 | nd, I stand by my guns, when Bruce said "we do not plan to sell anymore shares"....he was right as they had more than likely already planned to sell the shares they did thus reducing there holding. If you catch my drift, he was probably referring to the fact (unbeknown to me) 'after we sell these 3million shares (which he couldnt tell me as it contravene LSE rules) we will not be looking to sell any more short term? Perhaps you could explain why I have been black balled from the AST thread for answering back to you? I dont go around blatantly lying on public internet forums!! I may not get my numbers precisely right and admit to being very exciteable at times, but liar I am not. Make of that what you will nd....I have been out of the game for 5 years, knew little then about the overall dynamics of the market, would suggest I know even less now. I am just looking for decent tips, from ppl I respect (like soulsauce, we are both in NOP) as my wife commanded me to get back into the market. She was sick and tired of me making money for her ole' man (NOP 10 bagger!) so she convinced me to get back into the market. I asked soulsauce for a recommendation and he gave me AST.............for that I thank him. I see TIR as a backroute into AST, I also recently purchased shares in AGC. | cyclingnut
17/7/2007 16:41 | Care to comment on these posts cycling? cyclingnut - 13 Jul'07 - 15:13 - 11167 of 11834 I just spoke to a director at TIR and they have about 29,000,000 shares and are not looking to sell short term. Like many on here, they are in for the BIG TIME gains which MAY COME in time. cyclingnut - 13 Jul'07 - 15:24 - 11174 of 11834 pp, TIR have had no dealings in AST since the last rns when they decreased there holdings. More of interest look at the last trade in TIR.............chec cyclingnut - 13 Jul'07 - 15:33 - 11177 of 11834 ND, Let me spell it out clearly for a novice like you. Since the last RNS when they decreased there holding to 27mill (from 29mill) IMHO and having spoken to the chairman today, it is my understanding that they are not looking to sell anymore AST........if they sell, they need to find a home for the cash they realise, not many co' around with AST's potential. comprende? cyclingnut - 13 Jul'07 - 15:38 - 11182 of 11834 nd, No not at all, I said 'around' 29million (which it was), it is now 27mill......not being misleading and sorry if it seemed that way. More of interest, check out the MONSTER trade in TIR!!! | novicedave
17/7/2007 16:10 | excellent, banked some decent profit no doubt........is it possible to suBscribe to TIR in terms of what shares they plan to go into etc, etc? they seem to pick some good ones! | cyclingnut |
