01/6/2007 12:41 | FRA - US$23 Billion Nickel and Demand up 62pc Nickel Demand rise 62pc China We already know that FRA has inferred Nickel in-situ value, at Birch Lake/ Maturi of around US$ 11 Billion and that may double when Spruce Road 43-10 is produced) Nickel demand to rise 62 pct on steel demand by 2010 China - 2007 May 31 Demand for nickel in China, the world's biggest consumer of the metal, may raise 62% by the end of the decade because of rising demand from stainless steelmakers, a government researcher said. Demand for nickel will rise to 400,000 metric ton in 2010 from 247,000 ton in 2006, Zhang Mei, a researcher at the Ministry of Land and Resource's information Centre, said at a conference in Shanghai. Imports accounted for 61% of the nation's demand last year and will rise to two-thirds in 2010, he said. Nickel futures in London rose to a record this month as China's economic growth fueled demand for the metal. Domestic production of the metal in 2010 may rise 71% from 2005, Zhang said. Most of the new capacity will come from Jinchuan Group Corp, which supplies 90% of the nation's nickel. " Chinese producers, including Jinchuan, will boost overseas purchase to meet rising demand," said Zhang in an interview at the conference. " The global nickel market will be basically balanced in the next few years." The global nickel market will be in slight deficit this year and move toward a balance in 2008, said John Barkas, director of Metalytics, Sydney-based independent advisory firm for the resources industry. Nickel will move into a surplus of 40,000 ton in 2010, he said. Source: Bloomberg | smilewithme

30/5/2007 11:42 | Zedder - Does the summer doldrums for resource stocks not concern you? Bid is at 3.5p. The spread is around +4%. And, the trouble is, that aside from buying treasury stock, Bruce Rowan doesn't seem to take much effort to convince the market that these shares are significantly undervalued to NAV. As we know, from the doublespeak b.s. propaganda and action we are fed on a 24/7 basis by government perception is nearly EVERYTHING. It simply doesn't matter how valuable these shares are in reality if the public think otherwise. So, if Bruce has his shareholder's interests at heart, shouldn't he spend a few bob on P.R. and put the current mis-perception straight? | witteklip
