looks like ast's so called discovery is one of those wells where there is probably more oil in my car engine than in ground
still have to wait for that to be comfirmed

With over GBP4m in CASH already it wouldn't be necessary to sell AST - it is just a sensible move to reduce an over-reliance on the performance of the one stock. I am of course assuming that some of yesterdays's block sales of AST were ours!

Can't do the exact numbers as my computer is being rebuilt/replaced, however my earlier post regarding a tender offer to utilise cash and reduce the discount needs to be adjusted in the light of this week's events. If I were at the AGM I would now suggest a 1 for 3 tender @ 5.0p.

This would consume c.2.92m; say 3.1m inc. costs. This would have the effect of increasing the NAV to c.8.2p for the remaining 117m shares. In view of the new proactive stance the remaining shares shouldn't then stand at more than a 33% discount, ie, minimally 5.5p - more likely 6.0p.

Haven't taken into account either tax on our AST profits nor options conversion and dilution; the former in particular needs to be considered in view of the major profits being banked from AST. Anyone here reasonably expert on that facet?

guess they have been selling ast to pay for the strongbow shares

interesting times now that strongbow are out
if tir bought in their shares that could be good news
ast has had hell of a run and will probably be sold down on drilling news what ever unless it is a monster find
i prefer my old thread title tbh

'B' Broker to Broker.

A transaction between two member firms where neither firm is registered as a market maker in The security in question and neither is a designated fund manager.

Does this mean that the shares weren't traded as such, just shuffled around a bit?

I assume that explains why the long delay in the buybacks - obviously BR has been talking to Strongbow so as to buyback their 8.8%.

Unfortunately my computer is in dock for 3days so unable to immediately compute the effect on the NAV, but I estimate it adds another 0.3p. With AST closing @ 23.5p, the NAV = 7.68p; and the discount remains @ 47% even though the price has advanced to 4.1p.

Not a bad week for TIR holders!

AST @ 23p and a few large sales - hopefully ours!

My Annual Report arrived today. Pleased to see that BR actually drew less last year - 145k v. 175k. Would still like to know why Admin exenses rose from 400k to 493k.

I also note that there is again a Special Resolution to approve a 15% Share BuyBack Scheme. Doubly bizarre that this year's Scheme has been so under-used.

Komb,

My thoughts exactly. TIR piled into AST at a much lower price than todays.........27,000,000 shares innit?

My point is if AST is taken over we'll have more cash than market value again. 'Money for nothing and the investments for free'

no probs mate, thanks for that. look at what RAB did since it's inception. the more I read about TIR the more I may well hold for 10p.

c-nut,

TIR will always trade at a discount to the NAV though.

Personally, I would rather be in AST than TIR at the moment.

Just my view.
