This is a fantastic purchase for THG Beauty :)

Since the pandemic, skincare has become a lot more popular



The make-up segment of the beauty industry has been in the driver's seat for a long time. All beauty consumers could see online were new makeup products, makeup tutorials, new makeup trends. The demand for makeup products was huge and it felt that consumers’ hunger was infinite.

Then the pandemic hit and make-up slowed down.

Stuck-at-home consumers were no longer using makeup, actually many started to think that the lockdown orders were the perfect opportunity to let their skin take a break from heavy foundations and makeup removers, let their skin breathe and just be. The advantage of staying at home and meeting colleagues on video calls was that people could play with lighting, use filters, or even avoid being on camera and just listen in (besides being very close to the fridge and sofa, of course).

Acquisition of Biossance, a prestige clean beauty brand
THG PLC ("THG" or the "Group"), has agreed to acquire prestige skincare brand Biossance for a maximum consideration of $20 million.
Since inception in 2015, Biossance has generated global revenues of c. $300m and is currently stocked in over 1,600 stores globally including Sephora, Harrods, Space NK, Douglas and Selfridges plus online through www.biossance.com , Lookfantastic and Cult Beauty.
The brand's curated skincare range of cleansers, creams and serums is centered on its innovative ingredient technology and a commitment to sustainability, with price points ranging from $15 to $74.
Financial Impact
-- THG is acquiring Biossance from US biotechnology group Amyris Inc., which recently commenced voluntary Chapter 11 proceedings.
-- An auction was held on 30 November 2023 with THG declared as the successful bidder for assets including IP, plus inventory and debtors with a book value of $29m.
-- Closing is expected to follow in mid-December, with integration completing in Q1 2024.

My spidey sense tells me there is something big coming very soon.

An M&A expert with very strong links to UAE & Saudi Arabia was receiving a tour of THG yesterday 😉

I just need confirmation with the price running past 100p. Definitely a buyer snapping up shares on the sly.

Id agree on the buyer. Green all day, then drop towards close but higher volume day in general. Late reported 480k trade at UT price must have been filled

Maybe but as long as our board is half sensible I don’t care.

I am of the view we have a buyer and we are consolidating around the 80 mark. Yes a whoosh would be nice but then the sellers be out anyway. A nice up and down up and down up and down and shake all the weak hands out suits me fine as long as we keep going up week on week or month or month.

To me that screams serious buyers coming in. If you wanted one percent of the company in one day you would have to pay a monster premium but with this up and down and shake it all about they can build a position. One thing is for sure is that a position is being built. Time will tell who it is. TR1 incoming soon me thinks.

There is a reason most hedge funds stay clear of shorting THG. It's got a massive BUY OUT target on its back and they don't want to get badly burnt. One RNS and dreams for PI shorts on here will be shattered for ever. Who would short this ? Crazy!
