Another thought.

Is AI a factor - are some clients using GPT4 et el to DIY some of their marketing, advertising and messaging?

Risk of 100% loss here if they don’t get it right. Perhaps some of the acquisitions weren’t so great, getting the debt under control will be key.

Hoping that the executive team is tough enough to deal with this cumulative reversal of fortunes. Very difficult in a "people business" as the main costs are salaries.#

It sounds as if they have discovered a "bad apple" segment and the peripheral businesses may have led to loss of focus.

Is the 65% lurch downwards this morning overdone? Should the falling knife be avoided or bought into?

A full year profit is still forecast and it sounds as if cash position is well understood and borrowings being negotiated. But of course H1 2024 is the looming problem - being normally the period of low profit.

Disappointing and now a test for the (relatively) new CEO.

I suppose the market is always wary of the dreaded second half weighting.

It feels like the market is treating the recent trading update as a profit warning which in part it is.

However, I am not sure if things are as bad as the share price currently reflects (but perhaps the market is taking account of information which either I have missed or am unaware of?).

The trading update includes the following: -

“As a result, the Group expects to report overall revenue growth of 12 percent to GBP42.0m (30 June 2022: GBP37.5m) for the period, with headline operating profit of GBP1.9m (30 June 2022: GBP2.2m). Headline profit before tax for the period has been impacted by higher interest rates and is expected to be GBP1.0m (30 June 2022: GBP1.8m).”

Which for the first half is not good.

And

“MISSION has a significant second-half weighting with respect to profitability. Revenue growth is anticipated across all sectors with run rates from the US technology sector starting to return to 2022 levels. Whilst the Group remains on track to meet full-year guidance, profitability is likely to be at the lower end of the Board's expectations, with profit before tax expected to exceed that of 2022 (GBP7.8m).”

At face value this isn’t as bad, as it suggests the full year will be lower than previously guided but still more than the previous full year.

The headline eps for last year was 6.8p, which suggests they still expect a headline eps in excess of 6.8p for the current year which for a share price of just under 40p indicates a forward PE of about 5.9.

The market may be questioning the full year expectation or may be expecting another exceptional charge like last year where the reported profit was considerably less than the headline profit.

Would be grateful for any views of potential further exceptional items or anything else I may have missed?

Always the same here, but another agency, promise more, buy another agency. Try sticking to the knitting and deliver for shareholders.

Disappointed. This is why. TMG bought MezzoLabs in February.

Data analytics and "magic" AI for marketing support is "hot" at the moment and I expected this acquisition to be promoted heavily to clients and prospects of all the TMG agencies via the TMG website.

But the listing of the agencies ( includes no enticing promises - just as a link to

And that website is less than inspiring.

E.g. "old" content such as an echo-y training video from 2 years ago (i.e. pre GPT and all that is developing daily) - copyright notice still showing as 2022 - overall "messy" slightly ponderous feel and unlikely to impress a potential customer.

I am sure that some of "our" agencies already have skills and tools for data analytics and marketing automation. So will MezzoLabs continue as a "stand-alone" agency or will it be absorbed as an internal resource offered by all the other agencies to their clients?

It doesn't reflect well on the Group at the moment IMO. And we need a good H2 if profits and share share price are to be restored.

Updating financial information on ADVFN is woeful. Shouldn't we all be complaining bitterly about that on these boards

I agree. They had high hopes with Pathfinder. I’m surprised they had factored that in their goodwill b/s valuation.
Still this Company has fantastic potential upside so long as marketing budgets of major companies and organisations are not squeezed.
Time for a takeover bid around £1.

QS99 – I’m not understanding your eternal optimism about this share as the price keeps falling.
The shares have a large spread of 8.3% not taking into account dealing costs.
Very thinly traded, 475 trades in Jan and dropping to only 36 in Dec so far. The majority of the trades are by the Employee benefit trust.
The dividend doesn’t compensate for the fall in the share price from 89.5p in Apr 21 to today's mid price of 47p. And the dividend only equates to just over 5% at today's price.
As the new year approaches its time to review my portfolio and I think it’s time to cut the losses on this one as I don't see where the interest is going to come from to move the price.
