Johnwise.

Not just steel production, all industries. Net zero is dimwittery of the highest order. it will impoverish ALL but the very wealthy.

Perhaps that is the plan.

Steel production cannot survive Net Zero and nor can farming.

British farmers will not protest but the British public
will within five years when there isnt enough food to
go around. Plenty of trees and flowers to eat though..

Retail theft hits highest rate in 20 years

Alongside this, the government unveiled its Retail Crime Action Plan back in October to try and counteract the rise in crime

I have a feeling your a student, gambling your student loan away on the stockmarket.
Why don't you team up with the other students on this thread?
With your knowledge of Supermarkets and the Law and their Middle Eastern Expertise.
WOW that would be a powerful combination!

You've worked in a supermarket for 2 years and you've never seen anyone put stuff in their own bags (that's any old bag they're carrying, nothing to do with bags for life), and then walk out without paying.
Lined bags that won't set the tag alarms off too.

Nothing to do with self scanners (you seem to have a thing with that).

Tesco have a policy to let anyone stuff their bags and prams with products whilst they're shopping. To stop someone from attempted theft you have to have seen them put the product in the bag. Do you think I've got time to follow suspect people around the store all day, because no matter what I think I can't stop them unless I've actually seen them steal and kept them in sight all the time ???

You are still skirting the issue with your stop people using their own bags tripe.
The theft is done through self scanning.
Are you suggesting all self scanning is to stop.
You say they are to put it in the trolley and baskets provided then put it in bags when they have paid for it.
I've actuly worked at Morrisons several years ago now
Explain oh clever one.
Are you saying the Supermarkets get rid of all self scanners and self scanning Tills?
I get my products and put them in my basket, I go to a self scanning till scan them and put them into a bag, doesn't matter if its mine or the shops bag . I pay for them.
Are you saying that's how to stop out of control shoplifting?
Oh dear
When self scanning was introduced years ago now, it was excepted that shoplifters would utilise the method. Back then the boffins calculated the level of crime was low enough that the cost savings from till sfaff reduction would far outweigh the cost of the shoplifting.
I doubt it's the same case today

Perhaps I should have phrased differently.
Appreciate it wasn't "news" but more an off the cuff remark

Not to worry.

Albert,

Interesting news that. Don't know much about Carrefour but they've little in the way of operations in Uk right? Might make sense a merger of some sort.

Tesco and Carrefor tried a 'bulking buying' tie up when Dave was in charge. It did not last.

Tesco's first overseas buy was a French chain yonks back. They soon sold!

I would eat my hat if Morrisons and Carrefor got married.
