Kraft Heinz pulls products from UK retailer Tesco in pricing row

U.S. food giant Kraft Heinz has stopped supplying some products to Britain's biggest supermarket group Tesco, which resisted charging its customers higher prices for them at a time of surging inflation.

Tesco said that with household budgets under increasing pressure, it had a responsibility to ensure customers get the best possible value.

"Shoppers are starting to make different choices in how to compensate for their rising cost of living. For some households, the way to save money is to buy cheaper products," Mike Watkins, NielsenIQ's UK head of retailer and business insight said.

He noted that for the 15% of households who now consider themselves to be "strugglers", almost a quarter of this cohort will stop buying certain products altogether and 28% will shop more at German-owned discounters Aldi and Lidl.

Tesco boss says consumers ‘terrified’ about volatile impact of inflation

Cork-born Ken Murphy says food market is ‘inflating in the past four weeks by 8 to 9pc’
Tesco, which made operating profits of £2.48bn (€2.88bn) in the UK and Ireland in its last financial year, says inflation is having effects that are “deeply unreliable, volatile and quite scary”.

The supermarket giant’s Cork-born CEO Ken Murphy told the Consumer Goods Forum Global Summit in Dublin yesterday that Tesco has conducted research across all their markets to gauge consumer response to the cost-of-living crisis

East has a massive demogrphic crisis.
Well the bit that matters - China , Japan & Russia.
Rest of East, erm small beer on the global power front.

Perhaps this is for the best. Gives more room for small Eastern nations to grow and develop absent some authoritarian big brother!
