Not entirely sure what needs to happen for the share price of tesco to up. Barely budged despite supermarkets being the only retailers open.

Prices have definitely gone up.There are very few special deals, so margins must be increasing. Whether this will continue is not clear.I understand that a third of the staff were being paid and not working due to concerns, childcare, illness etc and Tesco are not using furlough yet.I also understand Tesco's policy will change in 2 weeks and unless you are in the critical list, you will have to return or you won't get paid. The extra casual staff will be let go and thus staffing costs will come down. This will mean a lot of the casual staff they have taken on, will be let go.

ps: Warren Buffett should certainly be buying back here, now that he's sold the airlines

I think prices have definitely nudged up across the spectrum from what I have noticed. I mostly shop online with Waitrose but use my local Tesco too and our shopping bills have certainly gone up, mostly due to the lack of offers perhaps, or they are just not discounting stuff anymore, such as broccoli for example, which used to be 20p cheaper

I don't see the 'across the board price rises, there are some naturally due to demand but in general they're still much as they were before the current panic.
The offers have pretty well been abandoned for the time being but there are still some multibuys to be had.
I've shopped at my local Tesco throughout and watched carefully the prices and the stock levels.

Last night's tv documentary must have been worth a fortune to Tesco in free advertising.

Tesco are raking in profits as they don't seem to have any offers hardly ... and prices have gone up across the board

Definitely THE 'boring' share to have in your portfolio during these times

Anyone looked at the Ocado bosses finances? Exercising options at 2.28 when the share price is sitting at over £21 must be a nice tasty lump.

Vaneric.
I shop in store despite qualifying as "vulnerable" because I'm sure there are people worse off than me, and I wear a mask/gloves.

The advice was to, if you can, shop instore and leave the online slots to those who really need them, how many of you fit into that class?

Well partner does not bother to keep those hours.
Apparently,if you try at random times through the day 8.0'clock onwards then you can get them.... you have to be prepared to book for two weeks ahead.
Waitrose though impossible.
We have no interest in Aldi or Asda.

You have to try logging on around 2am to have any chance of booking a delivery slot. We have been successful every week since early-April with Asda.

Can't get a delivery slot for:

Tescos
Morrisons
Asda
Sainsbury

All for the last 8 weeks+., all booked indefinitely going forward.

Can book Iceland, Aldi.

Not from my experience, hazl. Tried five times last night with Tesco, no joy. Tried once with Asda and delivery slot secured. I guess it depends on your location.

....lion in our experience your post 24092 is completely wrong....my partner has become very adept at booking a slot with Tesco and from my reading the other supermarkets pale in comparison.

Gecko, simply logon ASDA around 1-2am and, if no slot available, press refresh button. I get a slot every time.

I've just shopped instore at around 8.30 Thursday mornings for the whole period, it's been easy and I've got everything I need.

My neighbours who are on the governments needy register have had weekly deliveries from Tesco Sainsbury and Morrisons, as they are only a couple I struggle to see the need.
