Seems to be following the pattern of up Wednesday down Friday and vice-versa that it's done for some time as the traders play.

The general market is down today....or perhaps people haven't noticed.

Reckless to pay out dividends in this uncertain environment unless you have a massive cash balance, strong balance sheet and a strong outlook

Assuming it's all taxable income the treasury and HMRC should be happy.

vaneric, I could not agree with you more.

Dave Lewis saved this company. He deserves a good 'good bye' present.

He also avoided a doing a rights issue at the bottom which would have diluted the poor shareholder. At that point, it would have been easy for him to have just said 'oh! things are terrible and we need to shore up the balance sheet'. He did not. As an aside at that point the company was literally creaking with a mountain of debt and the investment grade credit rating had just been lost and the store portfolio had been massively written down.

I also like the finance director, strong and stable - now who said that!

Finally, I think Dave could walk back in to Unilever as I think that company needs some inspired leadership - the world is his oyster.

Whatever but I can't see how this level of compensation is justified on any level! All this while the lower end hard working Tesco employees keep getting squeezed and us as shareholders get very little.

They're not aiming for a share price target they're aiming and so far succeeding to make a financially safe and secure company for the benefit of ordinary shareholders.

The bonus shares were all in the books from a couple of years ago.

This team have taken the company from the disaster of the financial scandal back into a respected business and in doing so have doubled the value of my investment here.

Agree it's shameful.. there should be a proper incentive scheme with targets ie hit 300p for a period of 3months equals reward.. gives them something to aim for.

jeez - so many shares awarded? these are shares right not options!!??

if so what the heck do we invest in these companies for - these people are having a free ride! I trust this must be alongside their hefty salaries!!!

Look at how many shares they sold!!

With hospitality looking like it is closed until at least July, this should prove an extra shot in the arm for the supermarkets.

I will never understand shorters ,they actually think investors will change their minds over their dribble ,on top its not exactly a low traded stock what difference would a few retail investors selling make.
