It would appear that FVR have developed a technology to remove the brains of TERN shareholders.

It is their most successful and widely used procedure.

Introducing the Fundamental Surgery Score

The facetectomy procedure is our first to include the new Fundamental Surgery Score. Users are assessed on their ability to meet surgical objectives throughout the procedure. These scores are combined to give an overall percentage score for their session. This is augmented with an Independent Practice Grade between A and D, indicating the amount of help and assistance the user needed to reach their score.

Tactile feedback (objective and immediate) is advocated here too (University of Iowa)
I have sent the article to FVR to let them know

15.8.19

'While some skills are best learned in the OR, orthopaedic residents can enter the OR with improved skill if they first go through a validated simulation training that targets the development of specific skills. A structured simulator curriculum can facilitate deliberate practice supported by immediate, objective feedback and assessment. This underscores the fact that providing residents with a dedicated time and space for practice is key to having higher performing residents.”

“A huge part of orthopaedic surgery is using tools and feeling how they interact with bone. Although virtual reality simulators have lots to offer, our belief is that having this realistic tactile feedback is essential to learning.”

“Also, the ability to automatically and objectively score performance on a simulator is particularly beneficial to learners (and potentially certifying bodies). Residents want to know how they are doing. If they are struggling with a skill, they want an environment in which to practice that skill. This will allow residents to safely improve their skills, learning from mistakes long before entering the OR.”

The dark horse is probably Wyld looking at the size of the marketplace, wonder whether we will see an increase in news now the results are out of the way.
Looking at the NAV is pretty useless until investments are sold as lets face it Tern are not willing to give up % of their investments unless new investment monies are substantially higher

Having thought about the way that the share price has been allowed to bump along around the 10p level for some time, it makes me believe that it is clearly part of the TERN boards plan to keep the share price at these levels for as long as possible. But why, many shareholders are underwater at this level, and some have consequently lost faith and sold up. I might suggest that the current stealth strategy could all be related to share options. Directors and senior players in TERN are quite likely to incentivised by allocation of share options at the current SP, but usually as a percentage of salary. So if you are heading for the stars at some point in the future, you maximise your holding in options by keeping the share price low.

Kk, global indeed. From yesterday's interrims -

'A June 2019 report by MarketsandMarkets highlighted that the medical simulations market is expected to reach US$5.16 billion by 2027'

And FVR are after pretty much all of it.

That sound you can hear is unicorn hooves approaching.

And to briefly touch on something someone mentioned earlier, it is highly likely that DA have dedicated teams dealing with the likes of Intel, Thales/Gemalto and Microsoft and as these bespkoke solutions get rolled out by these top drawer blue chips revenue will snowball.

Wonder if we'll get something meaty before the conference call.

FUNDAMENTAL SURGERY EXPANDS EDUCATIONAL SURGICAL SIMULATION PLATFORM WITH NEW FACETECTOMY PROCEDURE AND FUNDAMENTAL SURGERY SCORE

Platform Introduces New Simulation Offering and Performance Score that Provides Trainees and Instructors with Clear Assessment of Each Users’ Step by Step Performance and Growth

LONDON – September 26th, 2019 - Today, FundamentalVR, pioneers of immersive HapticVRTM training technology, which combines virtual reality (VR) with haptics (sense of touch), has announced its educational platform, Fundamental Surgery, has extended its simulation offering with a new Facetectomy procedure. Additionally, the platform is rolling out the Fundamental Surgery Score, aimed at providing users and their mentors with even more reporting and assessment around their individual surgical performances.

Orthopedic Simulation Offering Extended with Facetectomy Procedure

With the mission to democratize surgical simulations and make safe training platforms easily accessible to every surgeon in the world, FundamentalVR created Fundamental Surgery to provide surgeons with similar visuals, feelings and scenarios expected during surgery to allow them to practice and hone their skills anywhere, at any time. The new Facetectomy procedure joins a range of additional orthopedic and spine simulations and gives users the opportunity to repeatedly train in the removal of the facet joint using a bone nibbler and Kerrison Rongeur using HapticVRTM technology.

The Facetectomy simulation lets trainees and surgeons practice the surgical procedure through an immersive, self-directed experience where they can remove a volume of bone material piece-by-piece, anywhere on the joint. Through the platform’s voxel technology, users can make decisions and execute every step of their desired approach and anatomical involvement. In relevant areas of the procedure, users can make realistic and meaningful choices around tool use, with the potential to make mistakes giving the opportunity to learn correct methods through practice.

The procedure also incorporates Fundamental Surgery’s new eye-tracking capability which is available through the HTC Vive Pro Eye headset.

Created in-hand with medical experts in their respected fields, the Fundamental Surgery Score delivers a new level of simulation engagement and facilitates effective independent learning, by providing users and their mentors with continuous feedback and performance data on each surgical step.

The score aligns with U.S. and European resident and fellow reporting mechanisms and is a combination of a user’s skillset, knowledge of each assessment as well as the level of independence they are able to demonstrate. Fundamental Surgery Scores are displayed on the results screen at the end of each simulation and are also available on the online data dashboard. All users can then view the development of skills and cognitive learning over time through the online portal.

“Our team is dedicated to providing every surgeon and trainee in the world with safe and accessible surgical simulations that they can use to train and improve their skills throughout their careers,” said Richard Vincent, Founder and CEO of FundamentalVR. “The new addition of the Facetectomy simulation along with the Fundamental Surgery Score continues this effort by giving our users full free decisioning over both tool choice and operative approach”

Named as one of the best inventions of 2018 by Time magazine and 2019 winners of the SXSW Innovation Award for VR/AR & MR, the Fundamental Surgery platform was launched in August 2018. It is the only VR simulator to be fully accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons. It combines virtual reality (VR) with cutting-edge haptics to create a scalable ‘flight simulator’ experience for trainee and qualified surgeons, allowing them to experience and navigate the same visuals, sounds and feelings they would during a real surgical procedure.

What sets Fundamental Surgery apart from other solutions is that it is designed to be equipment agnostic, compatible with any VR-enabled PC laptop, VR headset or haptic device enabling it to be delivered at a fraction of the cost. Furthermore, its remote data analytics and data dashboard covering surgical skills and knowledge provide invaluable insight into surgical capability and education progression.
Today, Fundamental Surgery is deployed with a number of medical institutions including Mayo Clinic and UCLA in the U.S., UCLH in the U.K. and Sana in Germany with initial training packages focused on the orthopedic surgical disciplines. The procedures it currently supports include Spinal Pedicle Screw, Total Hip Arthroplasty (Posterior), Total Hip Arthroplasty (Anterior) and Total Knee Arthroplasty. All Fundamental Surgery simulations are accredited by the Royal College of surgeons as an activity that demonstrates sufficient educational value to contribute to individual surgeons’ CPD, for which 6 CPD points can be claimed. It can be seen in action here.

NASS 2019

Fundamental Surgery, including the new Facetectomy procedure and Fundamental Surgery Score, will be available for demo at NASS 2019 in Chicago on September 25-28, 2019. Attendees can visit booth #2106 to try out the platform themselves.
For further information about Fundamental Surgery, please visit: www.fundamentalsurgery.com.

Yeah Tern have a choice to fund DA or not, they have a choice how they do it too.
It would be a stupid choice not to fund the expansion and progress now that the product is gaining traction and momentum with Blue chip clients. It’s there in the rns. Traction, momentum and blue chip clients.

When you hear both Intel (August) and Thales/Gemalto (yesterday) doing webinars with DA (each one ca. 50 minutes, with constant interaction between the speakers), it makes you think, this could be huge, down the line.

With complex slides showing how the two parties are working hard behind the scenes to provide comprehensive services to the vendor's clients.

In each case the spadework is almost done. That SAAS revenue model (or royalty fees) is about to roll. And probably is already rolling at Tech Mahindra, HID, CumuloCity, Multos, Multitech, Team Viewer, 3D Systems and Wipro. Commodo too? (now Sectigo)

Microsoft on Oct 16. Another high-level webinar, with almost perfected (?) solutions, this time for Microsoft Azure?

SP: one 'holy cow' disconnect.....
