I agree. I know the government have tried through the price cap to stop unethical behaviour of many suppliers (undercharge new customers and rip off existing to cover the cost) but it's a shocker these companies have got away with it for so long. If this situation clears our unsustainable suppliers then that'd be a good thing because it's been a crazy situation. Bulb for example working at a £60+ million loss every year. UW hasn't played the 'race to the bottom' pricing strategy so we've had to rely on the value of the broader offer, and have still grown. So take away the silly less-than-cost offers from these suppliers and UW is going to really bounce from this and i've already seeing it - I personally had 4 new customers in just 90 minutes last night! Exciting times!

Sounds like the ethical strategy will eventually deliver recognised competitive advantage and value.

I'm a distributor and I think this is massive. The biggest challenge we've faced for years is energy companies selling at a loss when UW refuses to do that (which I think is better business). Plus the fact UW had long term agreements so isn't as affected by the recent price hikes. So, I'm already seeing a jump in the number of people we can sign up. I think this is going to be massive and propel is today's the 1 million customers we'd all been working towards.

I'm not a distributor but for a start the collapse of the small providers who were taking customers away from TEP and undercutting it on costs. TEP has demonstrated its reliability and I think this is a growth opportunity.

so any distributers here to give me their 2 cents why I should buy into this - i'm not feeling it at the moment and need someone to give me some postives apart from the chart looking quite nice

thanks, so I guess its with Eon then. |A decent sized operator so should survive. It will just take a change in a weather to turn this crises around as well.

I think you will find they have a 20 year supply agreement with Npower ending in 2033.

yes might be.. subject to their supplier not going the same way as bulb - i'm assuming they use one of the larger firms - do we know who?

I actually think this is a good opportunity for TEP.Some price comparison sites are down, Bulb is looking for a bailout. TEP have cash and a solid base.Just depends if the distributors can make this opportunity work

Was thinking of investing here until news of the crazy gas prices being banded around - this will no doubt negatively impact the ability for their distributers to sign people up..

it relies on network marketing/mlm and signing people up for services face to face, plus most of the customers who do are more mature. So as you can imagine the business has no been that busy during covid

Been watching this for a while - any ideas why the share price is drifting down? Seems to be a decent business

Quants don’t like it because divi barely covered and minimal growth over past five years. At AGM CW reiterated target of 1m customers over the medium term which implies a return to growth

Yep they said in June and Nov 2020 that year end PBT would be marginally below the prior FY, and it was 7.7% lower, debatable if that's "marginal".Their outlook for this FY is £60m, only £0.8m below their record year yet the share price is at about 30% discount, on a PE of 17. Has this been derated because growth is minimal (2.5%) or not?, that's the million dollar question IMO.Still watching to see if it does show signs of breaking out and heading back to historic levels.

Nov 2020 - Telecom Plus Pretax profit for the six months ended September 30 widened 1.9% to GBP21.5 million from GBP21.1 million a year prior. Revenue was down 1.1% to GBP349.4 million from GBP353.2 million a year before. "The small reduction in revenue primarily reflects lower prevailing energy prices and milder weather during the period. This was partially offset by higher service numbers, increased usage by some households during lockdown, and a steadily increasing proportion of customers taking fibre broadband," Telecom Plus said. Telecom Plus maintained its 27 pence per share interim dividend. Going forward, Chief Executive Andrew Lindsay said: "Over the last seven weeks we have seen a significant increase in the number of new partners joining the business; this is an encouraging lead-indicator for the rate of future customer growth over the coming months. We anticipate low single-digit percentage growth in customer and service numbers for the year to March, and look forward to delivering full-year adjusted profits in line with our previous guidance." Telecom Plus said it is confident in its previous guidance that full-year adjusted profit before tax will be marginally below the level it reported last year, which sat at GBP60.8 million. The company's full year is due to end March 31, 2021. The company also maintained its dividend guidance of 57 pence per share for the full year, the same as the prior financial year. Telecom Plus shares were up 1.8% at 1,390.00 pence each in London on Tuesday morning.

You’ve held for a while then! This does look undervalued at the moment but prefer to see confirmation that the downtrend has reversed before having a dabble. Do wonder how they will grow their customer base (I mean more than 2.5%), there are free websites / tools now that will get the cheapest prices for you with no charge, either with your existing supplier or a switch, namely ismybillfair.com. Looking at the UW website the typical annual savings for the “energy one” is only up to £67, that’s only £1.29 per week, whose going to bother?. Like their unique business model but just not certain about future earnings growth.

I started to Increase our holding at 1020 and still doing so. My initial entry point was at 318 and at current prices the dividend is around 5.5%. Its got be one of the safest stocks around with a very stable customer base.
