This seems to me to be a really dim proposition. They have effectively put a cap on the price at £12.03 until the tender offer is closed and with the loss of the dividend too. Perhaps someone wants to hoover up some cheap shares!

Why would one want to take advantage of the tender offer at £12.03 or lower (Average for five days prior to 3rd July)? Surely better for a buy-back just to buy in the market or am I missing something here? Personally, I would much rather have the £25m paid out as a special dividend.

Views anyone?

I can't see the point in participating.

Personally, I don't see the point in participating. Even if I was thinking of selling, to sell at "the lower of GBP12.03 or the average market value of an ordinary share for the previous 5 business days prior to 3 July 2017" offers no benefit imho. If / when I sell or reduce my holding, it will be at a price of my choice and on the date of my choice.
Thoughts anyone?

Coming back quite strongly. Results look ok in general but it's the absence of revenue growth that's the problem. This should be temporary however.

Current year nil profits growth doesn't help either. 50p divi should underpin.

Reduction in distribution of proceeds caught my eye - all that patience and progress wiped out in an instant. Anyhow that's me out

The value of this company is in the distribution network of around 12000 active individuals who promote the services to friends, family and others. In return they are paid an ongoing monthly income.

The major shareholders include the Exec Chairman, his family, the board and many distributors. None of them intend the company to be sold.

In the unlikely event that a sale was contemplated it would have to be a buyer willing to continue paying residual income to the Network otherwise friends, family et al would immediately leave. This is why the value is in the Network.

from Questor in The Daily Telegraph on 2nd May

The Conservative Party's proposed crackdown on energy providers may be worrying shareholders in SSE and Centrica but it would only serve to reaffirm the attractions of Telecom Plus's business model, assuming the Tories are re-elected and the policy brought in.

Even if this does not happen, the FTSE 250 multi-utility provider is already seeing a narrowing gap between standard variable energy tariffs and aggressive introductory deals, judging by its recent full-year trading update.

An acceleration of that trend could help Telecom Plus add to its 600,000 customers since it has a 20-year power supply deal with npower that is priced at a discount to the average standard variable tariff offered by the Big Six.

ADVERTISING

As a result Telecom Plus can offer competitive tariffs and also bundle services, as it provides broadband and telecoms as well as gas and electricity. A new home insurance offer could also help drive customer acquisition.

Although investment in IT and new customer additions may mean profits come in broadly flat for the year to March 2018, a 4.2pc dividend yield means investors will be paid to wait before a possible re-acceleration in earnings momentum in 2019.

I've tipped this company before and this appears still not to be priced in - Government intervention should boost it further.
