I don't think they will be able to maintain the special divi whilst building council estates for a socialist government.

Halifax came through before lunch.

But still nothing in the IG ISA seems they undertake to pay dividends On or shortly after the actual Pay Date, so I'll be keeping a minimum of dividend payers in the IG Isa in future.

I use Halifax, the payments seem to be on par with most others from what I see. I don't "Trade" just buy for long term growth etc so can't say whether the platform is good or bad for trading, but it suits my needs. I don't auto re-invest as rule so will look tomorrow for a dip to buy some more of these. Anyone any thoughts on the auto re-invest dividend thing. If a lot of people do the auto re-invest thing I would have though it spikes the share price a little so you might not get value for money on the day. Simple thought but is there a argument for the contra'

Edit: Knocking on for 4pm and still no sign fo divi in my IG Share ISA, they're the worst company for paying Dividends that I've ever traded with!

What do you mean by a mortgage being required to rent a bedsit ?? It's you that's the halfwit surely. Mortgages are raised against assets which are used as collateral, not against rental agreements you can walk away from at any moment. If per chance you are lamenting the elevated price of property try blaming the Bank of England and it's decade of negative real interest rates which have grossly inflated the price of all assets. I don't see people blaming immigrants for the exorbitant increases we've seen in classic cars for example

No doubt gbh2. I'm sure there is so much wastage, but I'm also sure Government after government has tried and failed to address this. But that aside it's quite worrying how we fund growth and inflation pressures on public services when our economy only grows by 1.3% with no productivity improvements and no willingness to run budget deficits. So close the door on immigration and bringing the tax payers of tomorrow to this country and you have to accept the inevitable decline in living standards in the U.K.

I am Raffles and this last year I've seen far too much of the NHS and Paid far too much to the Council, however (realising that you're a knowledgeable person" I think you'll agree that much or some of the:

"vast needs being placed on the health service and local authorities"

Are created by cash wastage, by the NHS and Local authorities on Poor management, Bad infrastructure and folk at the top of both that are more interested in their own financial needs rather than those of the organisations they are supposed to be running!

fwiw, I've never voted Labour but I can see how Labour could well win the next election due to the total incompetence of the current lot.

Well I'm generalising gbh2 but I'm sure you are aware of the vast needs being placed on the health service and local authorities by an ageing population which predominantly has not provided for its care.Immigration is a huge positive for any society and certainly looking at the States much of their success in the technology industry and the rise of Apple and Google and the likes wouldn't have been possible without technology. But what is the right level of immigration I wouldn't have a clue. Just saying we need some to support our own demographic trends

What we really need in the Country is Jobs in which folk can be "Productive" we need jobs that offer Training, Decent wages, Pension schemes and a future so the young can plan and live for that future rather than live for today on what they can make in the service sector on zero hours contracts.

Unproductive?????

Yet all the claims are that WE are the only ones spending, I've purchased two houses this year and sold four that were not as productive.

And look at the demographics - we are fast becoming an old people's home with a vastly growing population of elderly unproductive people who are a serious burden on public resources. We need immigration

"More and more people are also choosing to live on their own... It's not just an immigration problem..."

There are other factors such as living alone yes, don't dispute that, although I'm amazed they can afford to given house prices....

It is a predominantly soaring population growth issue - not just immigration but already resident population growth added into the mix too.

Look at demographics.

Says all you need to know.

Population growth +5 million odd in 10 years!(2007 to 2017)

UK infrastructure(particularly England) built to satisfy 50-55m
Current population - officially 66million
Unofficially, who knows but I'm sure food/water consumption and sewage would tell us a true figure and I'm sure it's higher than 66m - more like 73-75million imho

"England must build 340,000 homes per year until 2031 to meet demand – a figure significantly higher than government’s current estimates, research shows"

Two hopes of that.

Isn't the record around 250-275,000 per annum

Shows you "immigration" is out of control.

There's also the 2 million illegals resident who , obviously, are taking up housing stock when they shouldn't be.

I find that somewhat worrying that the chairmans wife wants to sell 550000 shares this close to exdiv . Its not small change and somebody must have advised her .
On the bright side we have no earth shattering news to come for the next 27 days or whatever it is, or someone is in trouble for insider dealing .
