23/6/2010 10:23 | Its because TW is exposed to the US, and their home news was a tad pants yesterday eve. More home news from over there later on so it'll hover for a bit. | goldbug6

23/6/2010 10:19 | It was getting a nose bleed being over 32p for so long. If you didn't know the sector you'd be puzzled why bdev and psn are up and we are down but if you are familiar with it you'd know we always fall further than the sector and rise less than the rest. It'll make it so much more rewarding when this finally starts to align itself with both the sector and general markets.Due a rerating in my book. | 2pearly
22/6/2010 23:03 | My understanding is that if you are a higher rate taxpayer (40% or 50%) and you earn more than £10100 in capital gains from your share / house etc transactions then you will pay tax at the rate of 28% on your profits over the £10100 level. I have found the Capital Gains Calculator a useful tool. Here: | ![]() 1aws

22/6/2010 15:16 | 13:05GMT 22June2010-Housebuil -------------------- Shares in UK housebuilders rise on relief after finance minister George Osborne delivers no nasty surprises for the sector in an emergency budget. No tax is imposed on new house builds and, though capital gains tax goes up as expected, the rise goes through at midnight rather than being delayed, preventing a feared flooding of the market as people sought to avoid it. 'Capital gains tax is not as bad, clearly the window has been closed, given that the increase goes through tonight, so I think that's good. I think that the fact there is no VAT on housing... again is a relief factor,' says Chris Millington at Numis Securities. 'I think it looks quite sensible what they're saying, there doesn't appear to be too much coming out of middle England income and that is quite good for the sector as a whole.' Shares reverse earlier losses, with Persimmon up 4.06 percent, Barratt rising 4.53 percent, Taylor Wimpey up 3.49 percent and Bellway 2.88 percent higher, against a FTSE Midcap Index down 0.63 percent. | ![]() restassured
