Dont think you would be saying that if you didn't own property stocks !!!

Home sellers slashed their asking prices by nearly £7,000 this month as they struggled to attract the attention of picky buyers, according to figures published today by the Rightmove property website. The 3% drop in December came after a 3.2% fall in November, dragging the average asking price for a home in England and Wales to £222,210 — 6.5% down on where it stood in June, the Times reports

Old Miles Shipside of Rightmove would be better off saying 'we really haven't got a clue' rather than trying to ride the bandwagon of gloom whilst leaving caveats everywhere.

Maybe he hasn't noticed that the tide is starting to turn.Within a couple of months he'll be saying 'things looking good for property prices' having completely forgotten all his previous negativity.

Doesn't look like this morning's Rightmove news is going down too well in the auction for housebuilders.

I have just returned home after a trip to the UK (Grantham) where I could not believe the amount of building work going on. Every bit of land was having houses built on it. And I do mean being built not started and put on hold. I don't know what Grantham has going for it,or is it the norm for the UK?

I seem to be banging on about the same thing
on many threads: viz:

TW should be analysed with a bond investors hat on, not
using traditional equity investor metrics. Bond analysis
is what has driven the TW price for over a year.

That means things like the price of houses is at best
a secondary driver of share price - just look back.

The things that will drive the price higher are continuing
hard evidence of financial de-risking - (see the RNS's)

Things that will be key impacts on shares and values are
any sharp change in cost of financing (long term interest
rates rising = bad) and any rise in inflation = good because
it reduces the npv of liabilities.

You never know - people will now start seeing temporary weakness as a buying opp.

That's the beauty of uptrends

Right on the battle line now. Get through this level and it looks a clear run to 32p.

Yes it does, but that is the psychology used by the masses. That is why we get support and resistance.

I am one of those who bought in at this level, but why sell now? Make more sense to add

Yes, if it is the start of a move back up, it is better that we have various pauses and pull-backs along the way.

Patience is a virtue, as the old bag in the Tesco queue told me, just before I pushed her out of the way. Bloody coffin-dodgers...
