07/12/2010 10:49 | Mallorca benefits from increased interest and sales Article Date : 07 December 2010 Increased sales and interest from potential buyers in the Spanish island of Mallorca is helping to drive recovery in the country's beleaguered property market, developers have suggested. According to Taylor Wimpey de Espana, 2010 has seen a rise of up to 50 per cent in sales compared to last year and Mallorca has played a major part in boosting these figures. "Sales to foreign buyers have been driven by the price adjustments that the Spanish market has seen. For example, in Mallorca properties have seen reductions of up to 25 per cent," Javier Ballester, managing director of the company, said. "We are now looking at launching more developments to keep up with the current demand." Mr Ballester added that Mallorca has been performing strongly for a number of reasons. Firstly, it did not suffer the same problems relating to oversupply as the rest of the market, so the balance between supply and demand was in its favour and secondly, the property expert claims that Mallorca is considered a "superior" location to some mainland cities. 07/12/2010 10:09 | Housebuilder Bellway expects net interim profits this year will be up by 20% on last year as buyer interest has picked up a little since the government's comperehensive spending review. Reservations are now ahead of the board's expectations, although still slightly down compared with the same period last year, while the decline in consumer confidence appears to have levelled out, it says. | ![]() jibba_jabba

06/12/2010 15:08 | Not sure I would worry about the gaps j_j. The news about the sale in the US, coupled with a report I read over the weekend about TW. success in Majorca, is more than enough good news to overlook these technical issues. But I could be wrong. Talking of gaps, I must have some of these in my portfolio. | ![]() leedskier
