09/5/2022 09:11 | Long lead times on stock is a significant risk. Buy it direct group said last month they were now ordering for summer 2023 (6 month ahead of normal). Over order higher priced stock now that can not be sold when cheaper stock (lower freight, energy & demand destruction) may be available later in the year. Those going for increased market share may make big profits if others are more cautious but get it wrong and there will be no profits and no p/e BoE has a 2% inflation target but the evidence is that suppliers are passing on the costs. High UK employment is bound to lead to higher wages. I can't see 2% in 18 months. | darrin1471
08/5/2022 12:35 | CT - r.e. discretionary, indeed, but according to Stockopedia Kingfishers trades on a forward PE of 8.3 and its share price is off near 40%. I still think its a good short. Smalls always get hit harder than bigger companies. I fully accept that looking through the cycle this could be a good price at which to buy, but there are plenty of scenarios where it isn't. Why put capital in the way of chance? I fully accept that you are locked in to an extent, and the ability to get out of a micro cap without moving the needle is a benefit of being relatively poorer. Even without you and other big holders selling I just see a buyers strike taking the price lower. | hpcg

07/5/2022 11:31 | Does this not apply to carpets/ big ticket items/ holidays/houses/home improvements/clothes Companies on high valuations must get hit first. Tandem profits could fall 50% and they would still be trading under 10x With practically no debt and a very strong balance sheet this should translate into opportunities. These things come along from time to time but inflation forecast is 2% 18 months out. I dont think it will be that bad for the company as Christmas will come and people will still spend. Rising interest rates is the wrong way when its a structural jump in inflation caused by a rush to go green and a war. tiger | castleford tiger
07/5/2022 11:09 | Way too early to buy back in IMO. We know nothing about the economic conditions facing the UK except that they will be bad. We don´t know for how long and we don´t know how deep and we don´t know how widespread across the population the pain will be. Trying to translate these variable into a long term valuation for Tandem is next to impossible. | hpcg
06/5/2022 11:50 | I am very tempted to get back in at this level but IF there was more to the departure then I would be kicking myself and I have kicked myself a lot over the last 12 months! | tiswas

29/4/2022 16:56 | CT - imagine not wanting to know why the CEO of a business you own a part of has left... Of course, people internally will know. Management will know. But the people who own the business apparently dont deserve to know. Its pretty ridiculous that this can happen at any company, frankly. Surely he had a notice period in his contract? If so that alone suggests the split is not all sunflowers and daisies? I think all that is being deciphered is whether there is bad news in the background, whether that is a fractured management team/board, or worse Eric | pireric
29/4/2022 15:42 | The answer to the question "why speculate?" is really quite simple. As shareholders we want to know what is going on. Not an unreasonable request. For example, I believe given what we have seen so far it would benefit for a director to be elected who can come from and work for the retail shareholders. Too many boards seem to take retail investors for granted. | rcturner2
29/4/2022 13:29 | Maybe Jim did this just because he wanted tiger to lose his bet? 🤷a If so, that was below the belt! | gabrielsant
29/4/2022 12:57 | Shears would be daft not to exercise all the options he's entitled to before he loses them. In terms of not selling to meet the costs of exercise, I would read too much into it. Being able to sell some after 6th May without informing the market of every sale is a much more attractive position. He'll still need to announce if he goes below a threshold but has much more flexibility when he's no longer a director. | dangersimpson2
29/4/2022 12:33 | If I thought there was an issue or had lost faith in the Board I would of bought options but then sold. There are investors to buy them at current price. What stake did Jupiter have when we took them out? Pointless going over and over why. A confidentiality order may of been signed. Why speculate? Move on | castleford tiger
29/4/2022 11:12 | Those commenting on the CEO's recent exercise of his share options (and no subsequent sale so far) may reflect on the fact that 1) at 190p vs current MV of 360p, why wouldn't he? 2) As he is leaving imminently (not to say precipitously!), it's probably a case of 'use it or lose it' and 3) what are the chances of offloading £1m worth of stock in short order? | jeffian |
