22/4/2022 13:40 | Interesting point Ct Although the bigger picture is challenging eg What about the asset bubble. Should you sell non essential residential property, watches, vintage cars, old English shotguns etc I recall the aftermath of 87 ie post the subsequent asset bubble Nowt wrong with taking some chips off the table in my view and playing more golf. Having said that, I have been adding TND and look forward to seeing the recording of the Mello re TND | bwm2
22/4/2022 13:16 | Nobody answered my question about " have they sold all their shares" Lets look at interest rates. The increase so far will have no effect on peoples finances as the increase is tiny. Plus a great number are on fixed rate deals mostly sub 2% The REAL increase is in energy which will trap more and more as we finish longer term deals. £200 pm up from £100 pm is a big increase compared to interest rate rises. Fuel for the car and food are both up 30% that's the issue ( but people will cut out the pub and takeaways first) tiger | castleford tiger
22/4/2022 10:29 | Retail sales for March are not good at all and price and interest rate rises have barely kicked in. | hpcg
22/4/2022 07:38 | I suspect we are heading for a recession as signs of falls in retail sales. The increase in interest rates is going to impact mortgages and that will have a big impact on individuals finances especially as large mortgages have been taken out to finance the very high cost of house purchases. It's difficult to see anything positive about the economic outlook. | amt
20/4/2022 20:58 | Peloton warning Its shares have nosedived by almost 80 per cent in the past year | onjohn
20/4/2022 20:04 | Maybe not actually...but I can't recall seeing the range they currently have on the electric life site. | actscap

20/4/2022 12:53 | e bikes or scooters RCT ?? Gosh everyone is so negative. has everyone sold all their shares in everything? Or will the terrible economic outlook just hit TANDEM? I AM RETAIL/importing and getting stock is the hardest part. We sell BBQ up to £2k and the only headwind is getting gas for them ( we include it ) Weather is a far bigger factor re sales. Tiger | castleford tiger
20/4/2022 11:45 | Lots of headwinds, agreed. But a big tailwind for tandem from the escooter / ebike play. Indeed, I passed another new store in Holborn over the weekend https://www.inokim-l | actscap
20/4/2022 10:08 | If the retail price on a BBQ goes up 20% will the importer be able to keep the same % margin or will their % margins be squeezed but still keep the same £ profit per unit. End result may be constant sales but reduced margins. If consumer spending drops then current shortages may become an oversupply. Container prices could return to normal and the prices at the point of delivery may fall significantly. You could end up buying stock that does not sell, then have to write down its value as imported costs fall. May be better to under supply now, try to be as efficient as possible then increase market share against weakened competitors when prices drop | darrin1471
20/4/2022 09:57 | The government bike voucher schemes all closed now, a dearth of bicycles put back into service over last few years during lockdown not to mention people who bought new bikes (like dogs) and won't use them again, all that stock and will never be used again. Meanwhile no production problems with bikes as they don't have chips or wiring looms unlike cars. However seen huge inflation and margin squeeze. The market for second hand bikes, likely a buyers market imo. Likely flooded! Why would you want to buy new? | my retirement fund
20/4/2022 09:33 | Do you stay at home and buy a new BBQ or clean the old one. Especially if the new one is 20% more expensive than last year | darrin1471
20/4/2022 09:05 | people are more likely to stay at home than go out if cash is short. That's what we are finding is happening now. tiger | castleford tiger
20/4/2022 08:56 | Nick Glynne of the buy it direct group was on radio 4 6:20 am yesterday talking about supply chain and cost issues from China. Their purchases include bulky white goods, BBQs, garden products and furniture. The freight on a £299 US style fridge had gone from £12 to £80 door to door and the lead time from 6 to 12/14 months. Normally retailers would need to order BBQs in November for summer delivery. Retailers are having to order now for summer 2023. Orders are a lot lower as retailers do not know what will be the effect of higher prices and lower discretionary spend. Buy it Direct were ordering on the assumption they would sell less as it was risky to load warehouses and empty bank balances. They were looking to cut costs and jobs ahead an anticipated downturn. | darrin1471
19/4/2022 18:07 | ONjohn but record numbers taking overseas holidays? Houses continue to go up. Big ticket items are still selling. Try getting a builder! Eating takeaways and eating/ drinking out will be the first things to go in my opinion. Bikes whilst important are not all TND is about. Most of their FOB stock are shipped as orders. I don't doubt there maybe headwinds but this is a strong business that will get stronger tiger | castleford tiger
19/4/2022 15:53 | Consumers haven’t got anfarthing to spend on new bike This will warn I fear | onjohn

13/4/2022 19:41 | the V in German is pronounced f so it means folk | rcturner2
13/4/2022 17:00 | Whilst listening to today's FT podcast, I thought of you lot. The podcast contained a very interesting segment on VW....Yep the car people* Why does this interest me? I hear you cry. Well, essentially it's due to a shift in focus from car manufacturers toward making money as opposed to just making cars (lots and lots of cars). And it mostly effects (ironically) the budget end (the cars of the masses, you know, "the people"). You should be able to see the read across for electric bikes tailwind (I hope). I trust this is of interest to all you fine and decent folk. -------------------- * people's car The German term Volk translates to "people", thus Volkswagen translates to "people's car". | thorpematt
