I'm out - there's something odd going on. A big investors looks to to be piling out and there's little support.

Maybe Guy Hands is busy with EMI? On 3 Feb the sell volume was 8.5m, so slightly concerned about this large seller who may know something we dont.

Strange: Bid 47p / Offer 50p but I have just purchased for 48p.
Never before have I purchased closer to the bid price than the offer price!

I'm sure one of the thread regulars can confirm this.

Essential? What's Guy Hands got to do with SYS?

I posted at the time of the aquisition that I was unsure of the synergy
benefits imv - and I also noted that Guy Hands had started selling to my
knowledge.

I was very cautious then and I maintain that caution now.

These look good value. A problem is there is a very large seller around with 200k+ and 100k trades.

"The Treasury has confirmed that the cuts amount only to about half a billion pounds in a project that has a budget of 12.7 billion pounds. So they are not that substantial," Denley said.

"They are in areas that we typically don't work in. So we haven't seen any impact operationally of those proposed cuts," he added.

"System C has delivered strong growth in its interim results, achieving 50 percent of our full year revenue and operating profit forecasts despite the second half typically being stronger," Charles Stanley analyst Ian Mitchell said in a note.

Results look okay to me. These suffered a fall due to potential NHS cuts but as posted here before...........

Conservative leader David Cameron this month named the NHS as the party's "number one priority", while shadow health secretary Andrew Lansley has made clear that hospitals should in future choose their own software, as long as it is inter-operable with other NHS systems.

We are expecting the move towards open procurement to benefit System C in terms
of sales of both products and services. Our range of patient management,
electronic patient record, business intelligence, dashboard and portal products
are all about improving quality, productivity and care. An open procurement
process will also provide increased opportunities for System C's implementation
teams, and we are anticipating increased demand for our business change and
healthcare improvement services as the NHS faces up to the necessity of treating
more people for less.

These seem to have calmed down after the recent fall, hopefully it was overdone. I see the interims were at the end of Jan last year. Does anyone have a date for this year?

Gerd, that's my understanding as well. If the trusts are free to buy what they want and need rather than through the National programme, companies like SYS are well placed to pick up on this.

I think these will be weak until the NHS situation becomes clearer this week.

But it seems that many believe that the centralised system will be the one under budget pressure. The Tories are saying they will give more scope to regional health trusts to buy their own applications.

Correct me if I am wrong but could this actually benefit cos like System C.

Thus any real weakness this week could present a good long term buying opportunity.

South asked to buy systems by AprilThe Department of Health expects 'the majority of trusts' in the south of England to procure informatics systems in the first few months of next year
SmartHealthcare.com
Smart Healthcare, Wednesday 25 November 2009 14.47 GMT Christine Connelly, the department's chief information officer, told NHS staff and suppliers that she wants trusts to start formal procurement in January and, if possible, complete the process by the end of the fiscal year in April. Trusts would be expected to use the Additional Supply Capability and Capacity (ASCC) system.

She announced the plan at a market awareness event for the ASCC process in London on 24 November 2009.

The event was closed to the media, but a departmental spokesperson said: "The aim is to begin the formal procurement process in January 2010 and have completed the process and awarded contracts by the end of the fiscal year. This procurement exercise is taking place across the three southern SHAs and we expect the majority of trusts to take part in this."

Trusts in the south, which covers the South East Coast, South Central and South West strategic health authority areas, have been without a local service provider since Fujitsu left the National Programme for IT last year.

Daniel Stewart lifted its price target for shares in System C Healthcare (SYS) to 72p from 58p in the light of three acquisitions, the latest of which (Conscia) was announced on Thursday. The broker concluded that the firm has reached an "inflection point" in terms of the scale of its product offering and awareness in the NHS marketplace of its products and services. It also reiterated its 'buy' stance for the shares, which finished unchanged at 60.5p.

IT spending will ride out NPfIT problemsSpending on UK healthcare IT is set to grow strongly over the next five years, despite doubts about the future of England's NHS National Programme for IT (NPfIT)
SmartHealthcare.com
Smart Healthcare, Wednesday 2 September 2009 10.08 BST A new report from Kable, publisher of SmartHealthcare.com, shows that while there are major uncertainties over the direction of the programme, work on implementing the Care Record Service (CRS) is likely to proceed, fuelling a growth in the market for software systems. This will combine with an increase in remote and mobile working to support continued investment.

UK healthcare market profile 2013-14 forecasts that annual spending in the sector will rise from £2.34bn in 2007-08 to £3.48bn in 2013-14, representing a compound annual growth of 6.9%.

The growth is predicted to come largely from software revenues, associated with moves to begin using the central electronic patient record developed under NPfIT. Although the CRS has been delayed by two years, its development has now reached a tipping point and should prompt the signing of a large number of contracts over the next two years.

These will cover clinical, logistical and managerial applications, ranging from patient administration systems to more complex operations such as asset and contract management, risk assessment, remote telemetry and recording details to comply with the Mental Health Act. The market will also open up as NHS trusts are given the freedom to choose alternatives to the core systems – Cerner Millennium and iSoft's Lorenzo – previously specified within NpfIT.

These factors should combine to boost spending in the field from £86.5m in 2007-08 to £364.4m in 2013-14.

The other main driving forces are the shift to telecare, which is encouraging the adoption of the relevant technology, and the growing use of mobility enablers such as smart cards, RFID tags, PDAs and BlackBerrys.

Among the other significant factors at work are the increasing use of outsourcing and shared services, and a move away from in-house software development towards turnkey applications from specialist providers. It is also significant that most NHS organisations do not have a specific budget for IT but tend to draw funds as needed from central budgets. This leads to a less settled investment approach and makes it harder to develop robust relationships with suppliers.

Report author Victor Almeida, a senior analyst at Kable, commented: "The health industry has the largest budget in the UK public sector and its modernisation is a paradigm not only for the rest of the UK government, but to health systems all across the world. For example, critics and supporters of 'universal healthcare' in the US often refer to the achievements and faults of the NHS in order to corroborate their arguments.

"Everyone in UK public sector and the rest of the world the has something to learn from the NHS."

I have just decided to take profits here after looking again at fundamentals. I think they will report at least 3.7p EPS for full year which gives a PER of 16.3 at todays price. I will keep an eye on them after results with a view to buy back in at some stage.

Might have bailed out too early, it's a hard call, but good luck to holders here, and lets hope the results exceed expectations.
