05/11/2007 10:08 | Thats interesting MIATA and it looks like ytou are right - all of the consituents highs are simply added to produce the index 'high.' I will confirm that later by downloading constituent stocks prices and adding up to see if it matches the index high. Even the ADVFN DOW data seems to be calculated the same way - MSN data appears to be more or less in line with actual highs and lows. For FTSE however the ADVFN data seems OK, it has all of the gaps which occur (Yahoo & MSN have no gaps as open is always set to previous close.) I assume Lycos is quote.com (or was?) I used to subscribe to that but cancelled - is there any chance you could post say the last 10-20 days of dow daily data here so that I can compare it with the other providers? | hoobie
02/11/2007 14:13 | 1) Dow data. I have discussed questions about Yahoo's numbers on these boards for over five years. One explanation was that the highs were re-stated using the highs for each individual stock (similar basis for lows). Personally I use the Lycos numbers (both EOD and intraday streaming) and check these against tradetrek.com numbers. Judging from the accuracy of pivots derived from them these are adequate. | miata
