Got to be cheap! We've all seen how quick SNG share price rises just on a bit of press. Nearer results the share price will be multiples of today and an expected positive outcome huge. I'm holding at a current loss but maintain an expectation of royal gains.

I think you're right Spartan. It will probably keep falling maybe even to 1p. However on positive results everyone should be fine. Do you agree with that?

So this is actually looking more positive than a lot of other small drug development companies overall.

Hows it goin lads? That auld 55/56p distribution is unrelenting isnt it?

31p is the only visibles support under 47p. Well, of much relevance anyway

gonna take big news and soon, to stop that price and most likely to stop 5p

Fair point, so multiple bites of the cherry, or possible paths to success.

There will probably be news on recruitment into the home trial well before July.

So basically what I see here isA) drug has been proven to work in a variety of different scenarios, delivery methodsB) the opportunities have increased for its usage, CovidC) on the Covid trial alone I would expect the market cap to be roughly here, and rising going forwardD) traders are losing interest, the II modus operandi is for selling anyway so doesn't really bear on the final read out

I would not expect the placebo effect to be particularly large for this study (not as big as it might be for an analgesic study for example) but there will be an effect and I would expect it to apply throughout the trial including follow up.

The patients will all know they are on a trial and so will their doctors/nurses, they will all be willing the study medication to work, the patients will get more attention during the dosing phase and during follow up compared to patients who are not participating in the trial and there is a subjective element in assigning the scores on the ordinal scale, hence the placebo effect.

Pretty amazing that Link have (apparently) hung onto their shares in spite of the fall-off in the share price

TImbo: in your. Experience would you expect the placebo to impact the 28 day follow up as well, or would that be a better final measurement on a identifying a healthier recovery between the placebo group and those on the drug? As seemed there seems to be a significant enough time between those 1st doses/28 days and the home trial starting.

peachie, my experience tells me unfortunately they do not care. They usually take the average price to determine their profit. So as an example if they have purchased at 35p and been selling since 70p all of the way down they are well into profit. If that then means off loading some shares at a loss to retain or regain capital they will probably do so as overall they are well into profit.

You asked question: Without knowing if placebo or SNG, you can still see a pattern of those patients compared to similar NOT in the trial surely ?!

Not necessarily: There will almost certainly be some sort of placebo effect in the SNG001 study, so if SNG001 were no more effective than placebo, you might still observe better outcomes for patients that were trial participants compared to non-participants.

And just my opinion re selling ...

Surely Lansdowne have stated a minimum price for the shares they want to off load.
And I fail to believe it’s below 40 if they paid 35. They may be in bad shape , but surely they would not want to cause a stampede exit of the share and it go below their buy in price. Even if it means holding more long term than anticipated.

As such selling now to buy back cheaper seems v risky to me. But I’m no trader so what do I know !

Also , during the 100 person hospital trial, there must have been some comparative positives ( even if only slight ) even though no one knows who has had SNG and who hasn’t ...
Put it this way, as an extreme , if all 100 patients ended up on a ventilator and died , it would be so obvious neither placebo or SNG helped at all. In which case they would not plow funding into home trials.
Although it must be guess work , perhaps it seemed a higher % of those 100 ( SNG or not )people showed improvement compared to patients not in trial.
Without knowing if placebo or SNG, you can still see a pattern of those patients compared to similar NOT in the trial surely ?!

There is no way a home trial with no physical supervision would have been allowed go ahead with such a vulnerable subset of people if substantial harm could be caused. It's that simple. Obviously you can't assume it will have a positive effect but thats why were invested I guess. It will be invaluable in the fight against Covid if it can stop a % of vulnerable people ever getting to hospital.

I am assuming that the home trial wouldn't have proceeded if there was any impact on the cytokine storm mentioned by others, supported with the hospital trial proceeding. do any others have any thoughts on this?If in agreement then hopefully one other risk removed.

Sunday Times Article in full BUY Synairgen

As the world’s top scientists and drugs giants strive to develop vaccines and experimental drugs to fight Covid-19, a little-known British company is already racing to the front line.

Synairgen, listed on the London Stock Exchange and worth just £50m, is starting a clinical trial in hospitals across the UK with a drug it hopes will prevent coronavirus sufferers from falling seriously ill.

Synairgen’s technology uses a naturally occurring protein known as interferon beta, which orchestrates the body’s antiviral response. It is used as a treatment for multiple sclerosis.

Synairgen’s team of experts has turned it into a drug that can be delivered through an inhaler. By boosting the lung’s defence mechanisms, it is hoped the drug — known as SNG001 — will prevent patients from developing severe lower respiratory tract illnesses caused by infections such as Covid-19. Phase II trials in patients with asthma have already shown that it enhances the lung’s antiviral defences.

Synairgen will now test the treatment on 100 patients with coronavirus. Half will be given its new drug, half will get a placebo. Results could arrive in as soon as eight weeks, which could pave the way for a fast-tracked pivotal study in a bigger group of patients and rapid approval.

A treatment could finally bring success for Synairgen. Since listing in 2004, its shares had fallen more than 95% — hit by a lack of funding and an overhang from investors including fallen stockpicker Neil Woodford. While shares in most of Britain’s biggest companies have taken a hammering since the outbreak began, Synairgen’s have climbed more than 300%, closing on Friday at 46p and giving the company a value of £50.3m.

The run gave Synairgen the confidence last week to announce a £14m share placing, which brought in new investors including Polar Capital, while hedge fund Lansdowne increased its holding.

Directors also bought shares, which were issued at 35p each — a 32% discount to the closing price on the day before the placing was announced. The new money will provide enough cash to complete the trial and start manufacturing the drug, should it be approved.

For patients with pre-existing health conditions such as asthma, who are more at risk of complications from Covid-19, Synairgen could be on to a key treatment. Clinical trials are notoriously high-risk, but existing data shows its drug is well tolerated. Synairgen should have a part to play in the fightback against the pandemic. Buy

Been some decent buys this morning.

Anyway I have a skip coming today as I look to finalise the "covid clearance" so that's me done for the week.

Just gotta keep ticking the days down. All the best.
