adejuk9 - 7912: apols masur, i meant %

Thanks for the clarification adejuk9. Don't know what the final dividend figure will be but if it matches last years final of 8.0p or total of 10.25p, it will still be 9.9%/12.6%, which seems to be a sustainable option.

I am guessing 5p final = 8p total = 10% .. not too shabby and very sustainable

Don't know the source of the claim that this years dividend would be 13.9p (#7908). Last year the dividend was 8.0p plus a special dividend of 2.25p (10.25p) and the year before it was 4.0p plus a special of 3.75p (7.75p). For the current year an interim of 3.0p was announced in February but I've not seen any projection of 10.9p as a final/special dividend for the current year. Perhaps adejuk could indicate where he got that figure from !

Thank you scrwal for the Edison report. It draws attention to two factors weighing on the share price, Rhodium and running costs. Only recently have I realised the importance of the basket price. The success of the 2020 run up trades in SLP were not so much down to me as to the metals prices. It has been more difficult in recent times and the Rhodium price is cratering. As it is likely to be a while before it steadies and even longer before there is improvement, I have been reducing positions. It is likely that Edison has underestimated the potential for the Platinum price but even so I am doubtful about SLP in the short to medium term. I have no complaints on the results of my many trades to date. I should be interested to know the details of the basket calculations. It is all very well SLP maintaining or exceeding production but the metals prices may relatively devalue results. As for valuation of their mining terrain, is SLP serious about going into high-risk mining? It may be better for it to stick to what it is good at. I shall probably be increasingly into Platinum now. Good luck to all.

One would hope so Makinbuks, an initial purchase has been made by the athorised company. It bewilders me. I note that there have been some regular 25k purchases today, so maybe today is the day?

Is the cash in the right place to allow the buybacks? Are they hampered by some mathematical rule? (ie within a % limit of a trailing daily average)

"The company said it had appointed Liberum Capital to execute the buyback programme, with the authority to purchase shares with absolute discretion during any closed period."

If I was asked to manage a share buy back by SLP I would be buying now at these low prices.

Why, when 116.250 shares were bought on 12/05/23 at the VWAP of 90.4148p, are Liberum Capital not filling their boots with cheap stock now?

"Sylvania said the buyback would be effective from Tuesday (02/05/23), and would expire on the first of either 7 September, or on attaining the maximum consideration of $10m.

At 1131 BST (02/05/23), shares in Sylvania Platinum were up 2.73% at 94p."
