You need to adjust for cash.
You will also need the current market cap and shares in issue figure.

I would like to see his workings. I get a p/e of about 12-14 depending on a couple of variables

Mr Thompson has the P/E at 3? I was near enough with 4.
Not sure who would take it over but given more than half the market cap is in cash would make a great acquisition for someone. ?Anglo American given it is already in SA. Pocket change for them also.
Any bid would have to be in the region of 140p-150p

Sylvania's 10% yield could make it London's lowest-rated stock

The platinum producer trades on a cash-adjusted PE ratio of 3 and is also a takeover target

According to THS, they state there is a single large seller. This could maybe be Russia, or China letting go of reserves. I don't know and can't find further information. Aside from this though the macro environment will be the taking it's toll with reduced demand and production of vehicles. Hopefully this will change in the coming months

Re the buybacks, from the 2 May RNS:

"The purpose of the Share Buyback is to reduce the share capital of the Company. The Share Buyback will be done under the terms and authority of the Company's Bye Laws and all Ordinary Shares purchased will be cancelled."

The platinum market is expected to chalk up its largest deficit since records began in the 1970s as supply falters in South Africa and China’s industrial expansion powers ahead. From FT article today

Yes. It's just for tax reasons and nothing else. That's why huge uk operations with company head offices overseas get slated for paying little or no tax.

Does the HQ being in Bermuda affect taxation? I guess there must be a reason for that.

Buybacks also avoid SA dividend withholding tax which is a payable on dividends to non residents. Full year results for 2022 amounted to a $1.3 million tax on dividends of $22.7 million
Dividends paid by one resident company to another resident company generally are exempt from dividends tax. Dividends paid to individuals, trusts, and foreign persons are subject to a 20% withholding tax (subject to the provisions of an applicable tax treaty).

UK tax treaty
Lower rate of 5% applies to a beneficial owner that is a company and has a minimum holding of 10% of capital. Lower rate of 10% applies in all other cases. 15% rate applies to all dividends from property investment companies.

They are if they are reissued. Cancellation prevents that.

i can see where Liberum got their estimate, it is based on historical FCF yield...what is the probability that the economy will slow and collapse the PM markets? The share price seems cheap as long as the global economy and demand holds up I think....

Thanks for this information. I need to think about this matter and not think about football at present!!!!!!LOL. I wish the share price would improve as I am under water by hundreds of thousands of pounds at the current share price for this company.
