All fair points but Stratex has surprised in the past.

For example you remark "Altintepe could not be sold on the value of Camlik East mine alone" yet when Oksut was sold, it was done so on the basis of the state of the project before drilling results were known from the latest wave of exploration which increased the JORC from 1 to 1.5m, so there is precedence (of Stratex being daft).

I find it difficult to explain away the lack of Q3 or indeed Q4 production details from the mine. Meanwhile ex-Stratex names are on the board at GRL. Ultimately a lot will depend on whether Stratex negotiated a watertight contract with Bahar or whether it has been found somewhat wanting... interesting to see how it pans out.

I've considered if they will want to sell Altintepe or not daniel and while it would obviously be very attractive to Bahar and I'm sure Stratex would welcome a very significant income payment I wouldn't even like to make a guess as to what it is worth. They have said recently that infill drilling has taken place on the other more prospective areas of the ground held within the project and they were very pleased with the results, that's ground at Camlik and the Extension Ridge, areas with higher grade returns from previous drilling already. Altintepe could not be sold on the value of Camlik East mine alone and so how they would value the other phases which will add significant value in the years to come I don't know. I suppose the only way to do it would be to sell with a strong nsr retained to hedge against future successful production, by strong nsr I am imagining something along the lines of 10%. Stratex should definitely be in a very strong bargaining position in my mind.
I know you imagine that Stratex will run out of money and are hence in a weak position daniel but if they do get down low on their bank balance they could easily raise a little money to tide them over and I don't see that investors would mind if it meant they retained a strong position on our assets.
But I don't think they will sell if I'm honest, but if they did I can't see why they would rush to invest in GRL who still have nothing more today than they did 6 or 7 years ago. I know they have a very small exploration programme awaiting results but with just 3 holes in the dirt made they will need to be extraordinarily fortunate to get bonanza results.

Given the spooky silence across STI-GRL, anyone think they might sell Altintepe to buy out GRL? In truth, it's a move which would only make sense if relationships with the Turkish partner fell down a hole (which is what happened with the earlier Inlice project).

exbiz, good man!

As Virgil said in the Aeneid, "Audentes fortuna iuvat"

Fortune favours the bold.

By way of balance I should probably quote some counter argument, but I don't feel like it today.

Yes george it does feel a bit counterintuitive buying more when I already have more than enough and I am far from enamoured with Marcus and with the incommunicado investor relations stance he seems to have taken for the business and although some feel him to be a bit of a star ; which I genuinely hope he does turn out to be; his record here thus far is far from sparkling and if you compare his record of success with say someone like David Hall at TS and his prolific record for making and progressing significant discoveries, then Marcus has a lot of work to do yet to live up to his reputation.
However for the reasons I stated yesterday the investment case here is quite compelling , especially at the current share price which doesn't even account for Altintepe being a producing mine, and for that reason I will be buying more and have just resigned myself to thinking that we shall not be getting any significant news until the results in March at the earliest but on the weight of evidence; especially with TS so very active now; I feel a significant rise from here this year is more likely than ever, and if Priestley and Engelbrecht really get their act together there could finally be some serious money to be made. exbiz, I can't find anything to disagree with there, except buying even more shares, although I was never happy with the degree of dilution we will see at Pandora if we find anything significant (the incoming investor can increase its share for peanuts if drilling results are good, taking STI down to 20% from memory). I'm prepared to wait.

STI doesn't have the cash to keep holding all these cards though. Even if revenue from Altintepe is good, it is not going to cover admin expenses, GRL fundraisings, Thani fundraisings, Dalafin exploration etc, something will have to give.

As things stand STI is 3-4 months away from running out of cash entirely IMO (though I'm sure an Altintepe payment will come in very soon to render that null)

George I spent last week taking a dispassionate view on Stratex to decide on my investment and strategy here. I views a share price rise on the back of Altintepe as very likely and significant, I view our exposure to success at GRL with drill results much anticipated as a likely share price driver but then looked at ThaniStratex and their new updated website and believe the exposure here could be very significant indeed. They have a number of drill programmes underway with much anticipated results on proven assets due soon as they look to prove up a couple of 3 million oz Au resources with the stated aim of an IPO this year. Firstly I think that any significant discovery will be hugely beneficial to STI as investors will see STI as the only viable access to exposure to this success as ThaniStratex itself is a private company at the present time and then secondly if a significant discovery is made and TS proceed to an IPO I'd expect a huge premium to our significant holding in TS. For this reason I have been a buyer this last few days and will continue to be so in the lead up to our annual results.

Well someone's working at Thani Stratex at least. They had a result last week at Hodine that looks quite good for just three holes so far.

I see GRL is back to par now lol.

Not long before we get some answers imho. Altintepe 2016 production and cash flow, cost per ounce, 2017 production forecast, drilling results, Muratdere options. There's a lot of news due that I think will create uplift in the coming weeks. The annual report and results should cover all of it but I hope we will hear something before then.

Yeah MM's having a party, just looked at buying a few more STI for trading purposes and quoted 2.15 and then checked the bid which is 1.87. They've opened the spread which puts the kibosh on any thoughts of trading for now.

blobby - true, there appears to be no rhyme or reason for Friday's uplift but agree with juju, the MMs made a killing.

I still can't see any evidence of the promotion of GRL on Friday. I can't see anything on twitter (despite what Tad says) or the bbs and usually if there is a tip someone will mention it. Very strange, I must be missing something somewhere.

I noticed GRL were up 95% at one point on Friday. Isn't it encumbent on a Company to make a statement - ie ' they know of no reason' or otherwise on such eratic trading

Even a corner shop owner needs to get to know the business well Juju, no use stocking pork scratchings and sausages in Riyadh.
In all events news should be forthcoming shortly in the run up to the Year End Results.
