01/6/2018 17:50 | Hi Minerve This is just to applaud your entry 990. I think we have seen this avarice elsewhere at the much contested MRO/GKN. These people are not interested in investment in the traditional sense but the impulse to make very quick profit: as such it is socially destructive; rather than building up structures from which all can benefit, in their greed they create only a privileged but ignorant area of power. Unfortunately these are just the sort of people that the prevailing Government rewards with various gongs and most damagingly peerages, witness friends of the Cameron set: the man that plunged us into the present political chaos. | mayers
01/6/2018 15:29 | No mention here but I think the fact that Carlisle Airport was due to open to flights next week and now has been put back to September might have caused a bit of uncertainty. www.newsandstar.co.u | anotherguru
01/6/2018 14:27 | The Directors need to sort out the problems among themselves. Its certainly hitting the SP,but the plus side is its a great buying opportunity. | garycook
01/6/2018 13:57 | I took a slice at 216.3p Not sure where this will bottom out but we got a 4.5p div coming up (ex-div 14 Jun). | dendria
31/5/2018 03:48 | Minerve,Spot on great post.If Tinkler resigned the share price would be back to 250p plus.Tinkler seems to be a thorn in the side of STOB atm,and needs to resign. Also Woodford needs to support Ferguson, and not Tinkler like Invesco. What is in it for Woodford too support Tinkler ? | garycook
30/5/2018 17:13 | Thanks Minerve. My natural scepticism had kicked in and I was partly wondering if we were getting a full picture from the BOD or whether there was more in this than meets the eye. But I am in agreement with your comments which sound entirely reasonable given the history and characters concerned. | bluemango
30/5/2018 16:58 | Quite! I have bought today for the first time in years, just looking for a short term bounce | chris79
30/5/2018 16:40 | bluemango Thanks. I am a strong believer in good corporate governance - Cadbury, Greenbury et al - and am encouraged when companies make attempts to implement such things because they are recommended and expected for very good reasons. It therefore disappoints me when such governance is overlooked or part of a process of wishful ignorance by the directors. When a company is going through transition you often find directors who want the benefit of listing to improve their own shareholder value and liquidity but are selfish to the extent that they are not willing to concede control and other benefits in return. This is exactly what is going on here IMO. I could also name plenty of other companies where governance is being eroded etc.. Companies get to a size where no one in particular is generally needed or required because the business plans are strong and although some directors would like you to believe otherwise this is generally the case. Personally, from what I have read, I think Mr Tinkler should resign because he no longer fits in with the modern-day listed Stobart and his interests seem elsewhere. As current shareholders we should believe in the strategy, we don't owe Mr Tinkler anything - he has already been rewarded for that - and he should be the one to be asked to go his own way. That is my opinion. If you look at the history of Neil Woodford. He is also one which likes to have undue influence on a board of directors and little acknowledges the democracy and needs of other stakeholders. He attempted to force GSK to split and kicked-off and went crying like a little baby when the directors refused his advice/requests. I am sure he is using his weight of a very large fund to pressure boards to run along objectives for his Woodford funds which might not necessarily be in tune with other stakeholders even shareholders. Woodford probably/maybe wants to get involved with Stobart Capital etc.. etc.. Sometimes they never know when to say enough is enough. Just my thoughts. | minerve
30/5/2018 15:57 | Thanks Minerve, appreciate your views. So you believe the current BOD will prevail and Tinkler hasn't a strong case? An unwelcome distraction then. Wonder what Woodford has to gain by supporting him. | bluemango
30/5/2018 15:55 | Extremely strong buy | neilyb675
30/5/2018 15:54 | Very strong buy with a 8% Dividend yield ! | garycook

30/5/2018 15:39 | W,Correct June 14 for 4.5p | garycook
30/5/2018 14:37 | It goes ex-dividend in just over two weeks time. | woodhawk
30/5/2018 13:45 | I fail to see why a bun fight between senior management should affect the share price so much over a few days. | dondee
30/5/2018 12:38 | Good income play | neilyb675
30/5/2018 12:35 | STOB was down 13p yesterday and is down 15p today. A good time to buy with a decent dividend next month? | dondee
30/5/2018 12:11 | Woodford is the same sort of character as Mr Tinkler. They think the company is just there for the benefit of them and nobody else. | minerve
30/5/2018 12:09 | Time to get rid of Mr Tinkler. The company has outgrown him IMO. The company doesn't need greedy little pigs at the trough. The Chairman is doing all the right things IMO and if he goes, I go. | minerve
30/5/2018 11:29 | Yes, couldn't resist the divi on this one, Gary. Circa 8% at this level. Been buying back into WPP and CARD, SCPA on the pullbacks, topped up DLG and also maiden investment in VOD. Also waiting to add HGM at well below 150p if poss. Luckily I had a lot of funds uncommitted when the Italy thing blew up - so I've spent quite a lot in the last two days. | woodhawk
30/5/2018 11:01 | W,Nice one.Topped up as well.What else have you been buying.Take a look at CEY.Been buying there also. | garycook
30/5/2018 09:56 | My maiden investment in STOB, in at 223p. | woodhawk
30/5/2018 09:44 | Having brought this out into the open, the damage in terms of market perception is already done. What's needed now is transparency and a resolution in the best interests of shareholders. Difficult to see how Tinkler could hope to prevail, especially without backing from Invesco. | bluemango
30/5/2018 09:38 | Media reports suggest Tinkler is supported by near-20% Stobart shareholder Neil Woodford in his bid to oust Ferguson. As a shareholder, I find the public airing of this boardroom dispute immensely frustrating and regrettable. But now it's in the open, it would seem only fair to hear Tinkler's side of the argument, particularly if he is being supported by someone with the high profile of Woodford. Presumably given Woodford is backing him, it involves more than just a disputed bonus payment. | bluemango |
