Great news supernumerary.

A bare tree in act one does sprout leaves in act two.

Leaping from Samuel B to Simon T:-
".....contract finalisation and commencement status and process is now clear and confidently expected during the second half."

Or perhaps...

"Is this a contract which I see before me, the pen toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee. I have thee not, and yet I see thee still."

Yet another thumping loss-I will let other disciples find the positives

On a positive note, Covid didn’t stop the takeover of the Geordies

I suppose the most prominent item is the satellite revenue of £0.5 million, though I think that is part of the original £31 million contract rather than a new separate revenue stream. It is indicative of what is in store, some £2.5 million a year for the fleet that will be equiped in the existing phase, more as the project expands, but not linearly so.

Long article in this week's Economist:

AUKUS reshapes the strategic landscape of the Indo-Pacific

A major submarine deal underscores how the new theatre for great-power competition is maritime

----

About defence rather than fisheries etc, but obviously the two are inter-related. I begin to suspect that by the end of the decade the whole of the South China Sea will be awash with autonomous drones monitoring anything and everything that moves.

The World Bank's latest update about the Bangladesh fisheries project says:

'A significant number of critical procurement packages are either completed or in advanced processing stage ready for contracting, such as Shrimp Cluster Mobilization, including cluster business plan preparation support, farmer database, ID cards, integrated e-Traceability Development, and Deployment and VMS/AIS services.'

So SRT's claim stands up that they are oven ready. However, they are dealing with the Coast Guard and the World Bank are funding the fisheries department. I expect that only some of the $48 million forms part of the Bank project, with the rest under dovetailed contracts with the Coast Guard. AIS and VMS regulations are also expected which will cover non fishery vessels, so the Coast Guard will probably own the hub/coast stations etc. From memory, the original figure was some $20 million for the fisheries, so it all makes some sort of sense.

Edit: Another document says that they will be building 15 marine surveillance checkpoints (sic) for $9,000,000 'pending implementation' as is the supply and installation of 1,500 AIS transponders in artisanal boats for $1,900,000. What is interesting here is that a previous proposed procurement of the same 1,500 transponders for $1,035,000 has been cancelled, as well as other related proposed procurements. Reading between the lines, it looks like SRT have reshaped part of the World Bank project to fit in with a larger (in terms of MDA systems) and broader Coast Guard-run project. I do remember that all of a sudden four Asian contracts had popped up at the same time and it looks like these are all in the same country which explains a lot.

Well it’s the six month date today so we can assume the numbers won’t be amazing-suggesting the next 6 months have to be sensational

They have posted the presentation from the AGM and I must say I am slightly baffled. Perhaps some of you who were present could clarify things.

On the systems division overview, they claim that £71 million of new contracts are expected in 2021-22 with a further £54 million shortly thereafter, totalling the frequently mentioned £125 million (or $95 million plus $70 odd million for a total of $165 million). So far so good.

On the pending contracts page, there are two projects in the ME for $60 million (Saudi) and $15 million (Bahrain and somehow totalling $80 million) and there are 'significant contracts totalling $48 million with a coast guard' with an 18 month implementation, which I take to be Bangladesh as only one tender is mentioned.

How do these tally?

On an almost related point, I believe that this lot: are likely to be divested by TPG at some time. TPG are under great pressure from a hostile bid by The Science Group (SAG) and are saying they'll focus on their consultancy arm, disposing of non-core assets of which Northstar is likely to be one.

Might be worth an enquiry from ST - it's hard to find people who have expertise in AI in the marine domain, and if they came cheap with a couple of good customer contacts, it could be a bargain. TPG are in no position to haggle - they need cash asap. At the very least, an enquiry or two on LinkedIn might be productive :¬)
