An unecessarily lengthy announcement imo, but the outcome looks positive for SPI.

The following extracts tell most of the story:

''19 October 2023: Acquisition of Vita Health Group....... a market-leading provider of mental and physical health services in the UK, for a net cash consideration of c.GBP74m.............The Acquisition is expected to be earnings accretive........................Following the Acquisition, the in-year contribution Vita is expected to deliver to the Group for the remainder of 2023 is revenue of c.GBP19m.''

Many people are exasperated with the NHS and are raiding their savings to pay for private health services. Also NHS have agreed to use private hospitals if they cannot provide certain types of care in a timely manner. At great expense, two local families close to me have recently paid for eye-saving cataract operations and a knee replacement after being told they could not receive the necessary surgery within less than 18 months. SPI has an excellent long term future, regardless of this low share price and short term volatility.

Well March 23 peak was nearer £2.50, so with the de-leveraging, why can't we see that sort of level as a starter for ten IMO? DYOR

Thanks, but looks as though some buying interest this morning which is great.

I think as they de-leverage to say around 1.5 and continue to improve EBITDA, this will begin to motor. As I have said, 8m on waiting list per BBC news last night, more & more people will go private DYOR

Spire Healthcare plc posted its HY Report for the 6 months ended 30th June 2023 this morning. Revenue was up 13.1% vs H1 22 to £676.5m, driven by continued strong demand, adjusted EBIT was up 24.2% vs H1 22 to £67.8m and adjusted EBITDA was up 11.4% vs H1 22 to £117.9m. Statutory profit after tax was up to £12.7m (H1 22: loss of £0.6m). Meanwhile the balance sheet improved, with net bank debt / EBITDA covenant ratio of 2.1x at 30 June 2023 (2.2x at the end of FY22.) Valuation still remains a headwind to the investment case with forward PE ratio at 25.3x and dividend yield a little feeble at 1.15%. The share price also lacks positive momentum and has been drifting sideways for 2 and half years. SPI remains a share to monitor for the time being...

Good point QS.
I would say many on here have used private health care like Spire …
It is first class.
Not cheap but certainly a first class service.

It would be great if there was a takeover bid. What do you think the real likelihood of that is ? The share price has been consistently low now for some time with no apparent outside interest.

Decent update I agree. Companies like Spire surely IMO have to be in the perfect position to capitalise from the massive backlogs in the NHS, but also the rising cult like spending splashed on health, £180bn and rising.....let's see but in for the ride and glad I have found it.....DYOR and any others people can recommend? thanks QS99

Had a pre-emptive Totally investment that wasn't great, but think the health service should be a place where there are £s to be made. Trying to find others, pretty sure I have been in this ages back, see the results are out imminently, any views please ahead of them? DYOR and thanks QS99
