29/11/2007 10:55 | I thought it would at the start of the week, but it's (the shareprice) appreciated slower than I thought, having said that despite the bid being up over 50% since it was 8p bid, the sellers are very few & far between, which augers well, furthermore the digital news was a big bonus as far as I'm concerned yesterday, I was thinking about my 100,000 x 30 pounds revenue for Spectrum, and just taking the hotels, like travelodge....if they say have guests for just 2 and bit days per week, with 40,000 rooms, assuming just half occupancy that's 60,000 people per week, assuming just 1 in 10 uses Spectrum's casino that would be 6,000 users per week, so it would take just 20 weeks to reach 120,000 x 30 pounds, which is 3.6m. Of course all visitors won't be unique, but it makes the 100,000 people signing up pr year look credible, especially as that is just Wi-fi users in hotels & ignoring airports. Anyway back to the subject of price/markets, I would be surprised if it didn't hit 18p by the end of next week. | outsider
29/11/2007 10:45 | Guys, Do you reckon it will hit 18p tomorrow? Or is it wishful thinking? (rhetorical!) ;0) | eiffel
29/11/2007 10:33 | just added some more, 3555 :0) | eiffel

29/11/2007 06:47 | Just crunching numbers, if Spectrum get 30 pounds per new client (see post above) & between the millions of footfall passengers in the airports & 40,000 wi-fi rooms, if they did say manage to sign up 100,000 new casino clients over a year (not thinking of this year) then AFTER a 50% share to BAA for the Airport clients (lets say 50,000) that would leave Spectrum will 2.25 million which should really mostly fall to the bottom line.....and that's all without any advertising revenue. | outsider
28/11/2007 20:40 | Yes, the beauty of the interactive cyber thing is 10/20 years ago, it would have cost a fortune in capex, to install casino's, and fruit machines etc, but they have done it at a stroke for almost nothing via cyber and their premier position at airports sure seems to have value now..... that is clearly becoming more transparent, they have also used a white label casino site too, so no start up losses or licence fees etc, on top of that some significant revenue via advertising especially you would think travel companies and other shops nearby... interesting. | outsider
28/11/2007 20:31 | Not one for casinos myself to much of a gamble but they sure take the profits. | battlebus
28/11/2007 20:26 | Haha not me! I just checked the Spectrum website, and it clicked how clever they have been getting their own Casino installed in some major airports and offering free access to play it.....I'm really impressed at that move!...great idea for getting unused terminals active...and generating significant extra revenue. Thanks for the thread compliment. | outsider
28/11/2007 20:20 | Outsider this has become one classy thread ,that's not you in the picture? Anyhow the mm has had his lot of sells and quickly raised the offer.Even more confident about the future after this mornings news, the contracts just keep on coming and along with them the profits. If all goes well we may even see a return to the black during 2008. | battlebus
28/11/2007 19:55 | Have to say after adding the pictures to the header, that I can see the sense of the advertising at the airports, including Spectrum's own casino offering, which I presume was previously just in the 40,000 rooms via Wi-fi, as they get 30% revenue share (according to the white label site) or 15 quid sign up and 15% or 30 quid sign up per customer, I can see this being a significant add on business. (I suspect a company the size of Spectrum possibly negotiates a better deal than standard anyway) But in a nutshell, Spectrum have installed their own casino at some major airports as well as getting lucrative advertising business...smart stuff! | outsider
28/11/2007 16:13 | the market makers (at least it would seem) need stock, ie need you to sell stock to them. I thought when i tried to get another 25000 after the fall, it was strange they didn't want to sell to me, I think they just tried to buy stock cheaply as they know where SIN is going just as recent longs do...could be wrong of course ;-) | outsider

28/11/2007 13:39 | poggy no they have stopped paying divi & they instead are paying borrowings off, but recent newsflow suggests it is their intention to resume dividends in the future. 400,000 was paid divi last time think, so that's a nice amount of extra to pay off borrowings. | outsider
28/11/2007 13:31 | Hi Outsider, do these still pay a divi? TIA | poggy pig
28/11/2007 13:27 | The above is an RNS btw, but not showing on the share price monitor. | outsider
28/11/2007 13:21 | Spectrum Interactive launch "Desk Media Screens" into BAA Airports. Spectrum Interactive plc is pleased to announce that it has signed contracts with BAA's UK Airports for a new product - "Desk Media Screens". The "Desk Media Screens", are a set of PC style screens running various forms of digital media including flash animation, video and web based content, positioned close to existing Spectrum Internet Desks. The screens operate independently from the Desks, and are monitored and updated remotely in real-time. The Desk Media Screens provide new opportunities for media sales revenue, airport messaging, and additional promotion of the Internet Desks themselves. For advertisers, in addition to the extremely high foot fall at these sites, there are opportunities to gain an immediate response through the association and link with the Internet Desks. Advertisers will be able to promote their online presence on the Desk Media Screens, drawing attention to their online marketing campaign, and the user can immediately access the campaign online, through free access on the Internet Desks. The agreement with BAA allows Spectrum to add Desk Media Screens, to their existing Internet Desks at all seven UK airports. 17 sets have already been installed across Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted, with other BAA airports being added as media sales are secured. Spectrum operates in 25 airports across the UK, and is also negotiating with other existing airport partners for Desk Media Screen rights. Helen Regan, BAA Telecoms and Media Account Manager said "It's not only important to BAA as a source of revenue for both Spectrum & BAA, but it is also an added passenger service that we can utilise." Daniel Gray, Spectrum's Head of Marketing and Product Innovation stated, "This is a perfect additional product to our existing Internet Desks. We believe that our airport Desk Media Screens will generate new revenues for Spectrum and its partners, and help further develop Spectrum's growing media sales activity. Our site partners are reacting very positively to the flexibility that we can offer to help promote specific localised messages (like airport wayfinding), and potential Desk Media Screen advertisers have expressed strong interest in maximising the link between Desk Media Screens and the Internet Desks. " Spectrum CEO, Mark Lewarne added "This is a significant new product, and has received very positive reaction from our partners. We are looking to grow the online media sales element of our business and this new contract represents a great step forward in developing that strategy." 28/11/2007 13:14 | mongrel04 I think it's because of the choppy markets, if your brave it's a great opportunity in my opinion....because Spectrum are tuning round regardless......even if the economy slows more, it will just mean a slightly slower turnaround, so I think great opportunity. | outsider |
