I think we still have a good relationship with Dlar but them and CCl are the completion in the substrate market .If we can capture just 10pct of that market the rewards for Spsy are enormous .

That paragraph does not refer to DLAR

Something that struck me about the recent announcement was the fact that for the first time that I can recall, they actually mention the competition by name. In particular, De la Rue. I'd always imagined that De la Rue was one of the companies they were partnering by providing bank note security tech. The interims from September included this paragraph:-

"In addition, the Company has formed a close working relationship with the
largest commercial printer of polymer banknotes and is near completion of a
house note which will incorporate both our FusionTM machine readable security
as well as their newest public security feature. The Directors anticipate
that the result of this joint development will be polymer banknotes of the
highest quality for a joint marketing effort."

I just wonder if they've had a falling out, perhaps over Spectra moving in on the polymer substrate market. If so, then the gloves are probably off. This may even have been the catalyst for the takeover of Cartor. Whatever the case, I like the look of Spectra going forward.

Is this to do with today's news about popularity of cash?

Reminds me of Mark Twain's famous words: "The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated."

Almost as if SPSY had become a half decent 'story share'.

;)

:-) so i have I Shanklin
I have bought stamp collections at a massive discount to face value
Paid about 25% of face value. Probably less because of the rise in price of 1st class stamps :-) Helps with costs of selling on Ebay :-) . I sell my things in batches when I have time

the whole thing is weak
Commemoratives stamps still a big part of profits?

Royal mail is at breaking point anyway with no postmen!

I have sent a parcel with a QR code (no stamps)on it.
Checking on the website and it said the item was in transit.
I had feedback on the item from the buyer yet the tracking code still said it was in still transit. In theory i could make a claim for non delivery if the buyer had not left feedback

I have had an item delivered with stamps far in excess of the value needed to send a small parcel . They looked fake to me
If you don't believe just buy a book of the stamps and send a letter to yourself

Sounds like the picture part of the stamp is now the weakest link. They should phase that bit out and have a unique QR code as the only means of ensuring delivery. The RM mobile App should allow members of the public as well as the postal service to scan barcodes to ensure they are genuine and haven't been used before. Which, incidentally would be similar in practice to how SPSY's anti counterfeit tech already operates (allowing the public to scan their security tags on high value items - except SPSY's tech is a lot more advanced then QR codes).

I know I will get a Christmas card from a person i Know and it will be a reused stamp.
Had a Christmas card today with a stamp without a bark code on it as it has been torn off
Argyle Rich Exactly. A cheap way for people to send Christmas cards or parcels

Every bar code is different. They don't postmark them but the stamps cannot be re-used.

NTV I'm not sure that Cartor's revenue's are big enough to be RM? Is there a specific reference?
Also re fakes, who's being duped? The buyer on ebay perhaps?
Whatever the answers to above, RM has always endured a percentage loss in this area. For decades my old man and many like him used to 'recycle' unmarked stamps en masse. I only started buying stamps again 5 years ago 10 years after he passed away.
