08/12/2023 07:05 | That paragraph does not refer to DLAR | harrogate
08/12/2023 00:52 | Something that struck me about the recent announcement was the fact that for the first time that I can recall, they actually mention the competition by name. In particular, De la Rue. I'd always imagined that De la Rue was one of the companies they were partnering by providing bank note security tech. The interims from September included this paragraph:- "In addition, the Company has formed a close working relationship with the largest commercial printer of polymer banknotes and is near completion of a house note which will incorporate both our FusionTM machine readable security as well as their newest public security feature. The Directors anticipate that the result of this joint development will be polymer banknotes of the highest quality for a joint marketing effort." I just wonder if they've had a falling out, perhaps over Spectra moving in on the polymer substrate market. If so, then the gloves are probably off. This may even have been the catalyst for the takeover of Cartor. Whatever the case, I like the look of Spectra going forward. | gnome3
07/12/2023 15:42 | Just when i was having a bad day , FUTR , SDI , then along comes my largest holding, SPSY, riding to the rescue of the Donut Sipp.DbD :-) | death by donut
07/12/2023 14:37 | Is this to do with today's news about popularity of cash? Reminds me of Mark Twain's famous words: "The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated." Almost as if SPSY had become a half decent 'story share'. ;) | brucie5
07/12/2023 12:45 | Oh my word, I am feeling a little dizzy, I need a strong drink asap, great rise, hope it's just the start. | fozzie
06/12/2023 16:17 | :-) so i have I Shanklin I have bought stamp collections at a massive discount to face value Paid about 25% of face value. Probably less because of the rise in price of 1st class stamps :-) Helps with costs of selling on Ebay :-) . I sell my things in batches when I have time | ntv
06/12/2023 15:58 | NTV, I still have loads of old stamps I am working my way through | shanklin
06/12/2023 13:14 | someuwin the whole thing is weak Commemoratives stamps still a big part of profits? Royal mail is at breaking point anyway with no postmen! I have sent a parcel with a QR code (no stamps)on it. Checking on the website and it said the item was in transit. I had feedback on the item from the buyer yet the tracking code still said it was in still transit. In theory i could make a claim for non delivery if the buyer had not left feedback | ntv
06/12/2023 13:01 | I have had an item delivered with stamps far in excess of the value needed to send a small parcel . They looked fake to me If you don't believe just buy a book of the stamps and send a letter to yourself | ntv
06/12/2023 12:52 | Sounds like the picture part of the stamp is now the weakest link. They should phase that bit out and have a unique QR code as the only means of ensuring delivery. The RM mobile App should allow members of the public as well as the postal service to scan barcodes to ensure they are genuine and haven't been used before. Which, incidentally would be similar in practice to how SPSY's anti counterfeit tech already operates (allowing the public to scan their security tags on high value items - except SPSY's tech is a lot more advanced then QR codes). | someuwin
06/12/2023 12:39 | Shanklin I know I will get a Christmas card from a person i Know and it will be a reused stamp. Had a Christmas card today with a stamp without a bark code on it as it has been torn off Argyle Rich Exactly. A cheap way for people to send Christmas cards or parcels | ntv
06/12/2023 11:29 | Cheers NTV, sounds more like the ebay sellers are conning those who deserve to be ;-) | argylerich
06/12/2023 11:19 | Every bar code is different. They don't postmark them but the stamps cannot be re-used. | shanklin
06/12/2023 11:07 | Still all money for Cartor/Spectra once Royal mail work out how much they are losing LOL | ntv
06/12/2023 11:05 | Can the bar/QR code work as a message once it has a post mark on it or a pen mark on it? Why would anyone use it any way? | ntv
06/12/2023 10:41 | Under their success stories it shows the Royal mail stamp | ntv
06/12/2023 10:40 | Maybe the stamps are the design that Royal mail have asked them to produce then that would not surprise me at all Useless lot that the management appear to be at Royal Mail | ntv
06/12/2023 10:30 | NTV I'm not sure that Cartor's revenue's are big enough to be RM? Is there a specific reference? Also re fakes, who's being duped? The buyer on ebay perhaps? Whatever the answers to above, RM has always endured a percentage loss in this area. For decades my old man and many like him used to 'recycle' unmarked stamps en masse. I only started buying stamps again 5 years ago 10 years after he passed away. | argylerich
06/12/2023 10:20 | Well you never know do you .Here I am sat on a cold building site reading a SPSY thread , then I'm reading about philately.DbD :-) | death by donut
06/12/2023 08:04 | Likewise but I think 2 wins will get us to that price level as it's a game changer . | nico115
06/12/2023 07:47 | It’s a good watch for sure, Nabil in very confident mood. This obviously a very strategic acquisition and one Nabil believes will be key to Spectra moving forward. I feel this is a time to be accumulating shares but no doubt the way this market has been there will be those wanting to lock in a profit. | fozzie
06/12/2023 07:43 | Nico posted this on Twitter a few minutes ago. Very interesting! | shanklin
06/12/2023 06:59 | Nabil says of Cartor “They’re amazing”. The fact that the management of Cartor built a successful business over decades and were happy to take part payment in Spectra stock speakers volumes. This is my biggest holding by far having held since 18p days and I added again yesterday. | fozzie
06/12/2023 05:56 | Hi Nick, If, as advertised by Nabil, Fusion has better security features than the two incumbents, I would like to think we end up at a lot more than 2 CBs….. …and a lot higher than 500p/600p. Here’s hoping :-) | shanklin |
