15/9/2004 21:39 | blunder this one is a hard one to call . August was a dissaster for the company but lets face it not many retailers had anything to shout about. The company has got of to a strong september and there will always be people talking about mergers etc. The company has made a clear signal that they are moving towards forcourts and top up shopping . they continue to sell a store here and a store there mainly large footage stores that does not meet the companies ideal footage i believe they sold a store in Canford Heath a couple of weeks ago to asda. They are moving heavily into Petrol forcourts and it would not suprise me if they have not got a few things in the pipeline. The out look is strong as they recognise that they can not compete against the big 3 and are looking for other ways to grow the businness rather than fight for trade at the expense of margin. Buy Sell i give up on predicting this one but i would rather be in than out over the next couple of months. Ps Just remember that the Directors a couple of weeks ago brought for £1.48 i believe i suppose i rest my case . | maxharry
15/9/2004 18:28 | It looks like the best buying opportunity for some time is either here or approaching. But will they drop further? Any views? | blunderbuss
07/9/2004 18:14 | That chartist that commented on SOF that I was sarcastic about could be right - why else (other than my mooted BFP bid) would sof rich with assets fall !! | bigface
06/9/2004 22:43 | I still think SOF are gearing up to merge with Iceland. Sof balance sheet and BFP's diversity and lower PE. They both have to do something or be taken over below their true value. | bigface
05/9/2004 12:09 | Maybe Jack Petchey and Shore Capital know each other quite well: | faxxer
05/9/2004 04:49 | Why the shares went down on friday 3rd sept: Who are Shore Capital plc (SHG) ? Thread 15 links to Room Service and the shareholders action group: or If I had an unbiased view I would still prefer to follow the directors who have been buying recently rather than follow blindly some johnny come lately financial outfit who has a track record of apparently less than two years and must be basing their opinion on illegal inside information (assuming their report has any credibility at all). Still the share price went down again on Friday and while I can't argue with that I couldn't resist the urge to top up a little and thus average down my holding costs a few tenths of one percent. I am looking for Jack Petchey and other supporters to put a squeeze on these miscreants. Higher or lower next week - I'm voting higher anyhow. | faxxer
24/8/2004 12:13 | Don't know how you find the all faxxer but well done. Many more of these and we'll be expecting a special divi. | kingdwg
24/8/2004 11:54 | Another property disposal: | faxxer
18/8/2004 17:02 | faxxer thank you for updating your share holders list and keep up the good work | milanilic
18/8/2004 13:10 | Well done milanilic Your conversion is welcome, you've done the same as Mr Bashir over on the Ramco board! It is becoming clearer that Somerfield's fortunes are ascending and now that 84% of the shares are with known holders there is only 16% left to fight over. In 2000 I wrongly expected there to be an imminent bunfight over Somerfield, however I haven't given up hope yet! The shares go ex-divi on the 25th August which isn't much admittedly but I expect the price to be higher afterwards. bigface: thanks I would have topped up a bit more but since I was expecting the pressure to take them to 135p, I held fire. | faxxer
17/8/2004 15:51 | After the recent buys from Trefic, Morley Fund and Barcleys something must be cooking up, so I've reversed my short position. Dare I speculate maybe Target (US company) may look at Somerfield since Sainsburys is too big and Matalan too expensive. Good luck all | milanilic
12/8/2004 21:59 | OK thanks banjosinger | bigface
12/8/2004 20:01 | go to trades, and then help all you need is their. | banjosinger
12/8/2004 19:20 | faxxer can you let me know where I can find an explanation of what the trades mean X P VW and so on. Bet you fancy buying more at 140 don't yopu - I would like to but got myself "locked in" on egg bfp & CRTO. THANKS!! | bigface
04/8/2004 14:12 | Market needs to keep shaking out shares now that approx 80% held by institutions. | faxxer
04/8/2004 14:02 | It's amazing how easy it is to please haystack. But then he is being paid £4.50 and hour to deramp. | absolutely barmy
04/8/2004 13:58 | No. It is just SOF in a downtrend! | haystack
04/8/2004 13:39 | You have to be joking Haystack the 1p fall is FA to do with charts. | bigface
04/8/2004 13:14 | And low and behold it dropped right on cue. | haystack
04/8/2004 11:46 | Nice downtrend. If this follows its usual pattern it should be turning down and falling about now. | haystack
03/8/2004 18:54 | Trefick = Jack Petchey, see this thread on Stylo | faxxer
03/8/2004 17:50 | Triffic - there's certainly some handy looking volume around 150 at the close. | kingdwg
03/8/2004 17:50 | Yes, and Trefick is into undervalued property assets. There was some discussion on this around the time of the possible bid over a year ago and it came up at the last AGM. The annual report arrived last week and I have been mulling over note 11 to the a/cs. Briefly, equity shareholders tangible funds are £804m (around 160p/share) and include : Freehold properties £363m Long lease properties £84m Short lease properties £96m These appear to be a mixture of entries at cost or on revaluation in July 1996 - yes eight years ago and a lot has happened in the property market since then. | sharw |
