The whole market looks like it has fallen off a cliff taking SOLG with it. We're now trading at the level where Ecuador looked like falling into anarchy. Where will it stop?

Positive comment from the full year results for Blackrock World Mining Trust for Solgold $SOLG $SOLG.L $CGP #cascabel #ecuador.

GROWTH AND RESOURCE REPLENISHMENT
Despite the more positive tone to the sector during the year, growth in supply remains muted which is supportive for commodity prices. We continue to look for, and invest in, quality growth companies where we see that growth
translating into growth on a value per share basis. For the last couple of
years, the portfolio has focused on growth related to copper producers given
the need for further supply to be added in that market longer term. Key copper
growth investments in the portfolio include Ero Copper, First Quantum Minerals,
OZ Minerals, Nevada Copper, SolGold and Lundin Mining.

It might .

Mine are all paid for so i will take that chance . With interest rates so low i think they will get funded at a very good price even more when they have 23 million oz of gold .

They won't have any funds by the summer....this (potential) market correction will kibosh any chances of raising funds at a decent price and could see this one go much lower.....

Interesting update by Cornerstone relating to some of their jointly held with ENAMI tenements. If you liked Solgold $SOLG $SOLG.L $CGP #cascabel #ecuador...

In commenting on the results, Cornerstone’s CEO, Brooke Macdonald, said:

“...We and our partner, Ecuador’s state mining company ENAMI, are pleased to announce the initial results on two of the 3 project blocks within the ENAMI-CESA SEA. The size and intensity of the anomalies and the outcropping mineralization are similar to those we identified at Cascabel back in 2012-2013 when Cascabel was at a similar stage of development. Cascabel totals around 5,000 hectares; the 3 concession blocks in the ENAMI-CESA SEA (Espejo, Rio Magdalena and Playa Rica) total around 42,000 hectares, and none of the targets on the 9 concessions within the 3 blocks have ever been drilled."

I watched the Barrick guy...deffo a candidate but so was the Newmont guy...and both of them cited BHP...didn't NM say there was a queue of candidates a while back...

Surely this will end up as an auction...but for Cascabel not the whole company hopefully...

AIMHO as usual...

Wish i could see how many orders the MM,s have on their books .

That 500k looked like a sell to me . But if you have 5 or 10 million to find then it wont affect the share price

Many p.i,s have sold imho wanting for the price to go down .. They might be wishing they had held .

Agreed. The sells seem to be well in excess of the buys against a difficult backdrop..

I don't know whether it is true, but I read that the wind turbine industry uses more copper than the motor industry. Either way there is going to be a big demand.

From what I saw on TV with the interview with the BHP man they need more copper etc to keep pace with the ever growing electric motor industry.

tosh123,

I too think it's past the 'pie in the sky' stage, but accept that big hitters with deep pockets may not see it that way. Perhaps some young man managing a portfolio for an investment management company will have to justify his decisions, and Solg wouldn't yet tick any boxes in the 'widows and orphans' column. However if the likes of BHP/Newcrest come in with a finance deal, then you KNOW that mine will get built and taken to production. Given the experience of those two mega companies, the mine will very likely come in on budget too. It's taken forever but Solg finally seems to be getting closer to becoming a miner.

Gold is rising and seems set to keep rising given the 'money creation' happening around the world, and the current low price of copper could well see some marginal mines throw in the towel just as the covid19 virus begins to abate and China cranks up?

Lefrene,
i think it's already gone past a " pie in the sky punt ", however, i get your sentiment.

A finance package will bring certainty that in due course value will begin to be released from the assets. It becomes much more of an investment and less of a pure pie in the sky punt.

We know that since the price topped out at 45p last year, pretty much all the news which caused us to fall has been reversed and some positive progress has also been made. The only thing really holding us back now is financing and there seems little doubt that something is happening in that space.

The trouble is that shares can remain undervalued for considerable periods of time before an event causes a correction. The improved political situation may yet lead to that correction but I'm not convinced. I suspect only an announcement on financing will bring the price to a fair level.

I think the news guarentees our 75 sites are free from the type of problems caused by the drop from 40p to 25p when we were not sure if our liecence was valid .

This type of news when it sinks in will have a massive positive for the share price imho.

And yes a difficult day in the market so all in all all good .

I was impressed by today`s share price resilience given the market backdrop and world worries and especially as the expected announcement was not really breaking any new ground, comforting as it was.
